Football trainers for the gym?

Would it be OK to wear football trainers like these here:

http://www.dwsports.com/mens/footwear/football-trainers.html

or should I invest in some running shoes?

Im mainly just going to be lifting, not much cardio, thanks.

Advice on good running shoes needed here too, preferably RRP under £30.

I'm not clear on what football trainers are (how are they different to normal trainers?) but you can lift in anything. Sure, weightlifting shoes are best but they can be expensive and it's hardly the end of the world if you don't have a pair. Most people just lift in bog standard trainers or converse type stuff and still make loads and loads of progress.

If you were going to be doing much cardio a good pair of shoes is more important.

They are fine for weightlifting generally unless you are training for something specific such as powerlifting or olympic style weighlifting. Otherwise, doesn't matter what shoes you wear as long as it is comfortable.
