    Protein to put on weight
    I have used some holland & barrett protein tubs before but not effciently at the start as i just wasn't motivated enough for gym/running etc. but recently i have been doing more stuff and need protein to help me gain weight.

    The tubs I bought back then are sold out everywhere and you can't even buy them online so i am looking for a good alternative, anybody what protein or otherwise that i can use to help myself gain weight? I don't want it to be stupidly expensive because the stuff i had was great and reasonably priced.

    any ideas?

    protein doesnt make you put on weight!!

    in fact thats why the atkins diet makes you LOSE wight because its high protein!!

    thats not me saying that protein makes you lose weight either, im just saying its not directly used to put on weight, as in fat, but helps in muscle gain

    USN Anabolic Muscle Fuel - it's pretty intense for a supplement but if you go to the gym regularly (at least 3times per week) then you'll notice significant gains in a short period of time.

    Check the reviews and you'll see it's a decent one to buy. Much better than H&B.

    Myth.

    Protein is one of the key requirements for gaining muscle besides plenty of calories.

    The Atkins Diet works primarily by creating a calorie deficit by restricting carbohydrates, protein itself doesn't have any "magical" weight/fat loss properties.

    ye i know protein doesnt make you lose weight, but i meant the atkins is high protein/low carb and its this combo that makes you lose weight.

    protein is for muscle gain which will make your weight increase, true, but it doesnt sound like thats what OP was suggesting.

    no, you've already been told that it's calories out > calories in - this makes you lose weight. it has nothing to do with high protein/low carb.

    how am i spouting a load of rubbish?

    i was saying protein is not used to put on weight (fat) but it is useful in muscle gain.

    The Atkins diet works (whether its healthy or not) because its hight protein and low carbs AND THAT AS A COMBINATION WORKS.

    but im not saying its the only combo, obviously if you burn more calories than you take in then you will aslo lose weight.

    for goodness sake, im not expecting an argument over someone's simple question!

    I've recently started taking Protein Shakes for the first time. I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. So far I've only been consuming protein shakes after exercising in the gym. But should I also be taking them on days when I'm not going to the gym? And how many times a day should I take them? I don't think my calorie and protein intake is high enough without them.

    gosh you guys are stupid. im not saying that. obviously it has to be proportionate to calories in and out etc, but yes im sorry to say the atkins does work (though it is highly unhealthy and i wouldnt recommend it)

    now stfu trying to create an argument

    Read what everyone else is saying and im pretty sure OP is talking about putting on muscle, otherwise he wouldnt have said "just wasn't motivated enough for gym/running etc' why would he need to go running and to the gym to gain fat?

    I use Myprotein, its really helped me bulk up and it tastes surprisingly good! (i got chocolate smooth flavor).
