Tbh I wouldn't bother - your standard student card will still get you the discount in most places.

This - unless you do a lot of online shopping.

But if you're going to, get it in September, yes.

Hi everyone, am I right in thinking that not many students get the NUS card then? I thought it was really popular.

it depends on your area and what the shops there accept so in some areas it will be but in some not so much. Plus if you want to use it online you need to get one.

Its probably worth getting for certain discounts like Asos and cineworld if you go there. And pretty much any online student discount requires one.

Its all dependent on whether your uni card has an expiry date, mine doesn't and is basically a library card so nowhere accepts it which is why i buy the NUS. I also shop a lot on amazon and book train tickets on cross country so its very helpful!

OP if its your first time buying one you have to get it sent to your uni's SU so September (about a week before you go) is best.

My school ID card didn't have am expiry date so I needed another form of student ID (the nus card). If you don't have a date on your school one I would buy an nus card as most stores accept that.

(I think they also make a UCAS card? Not sure...)
