Questions about conditional/unconditional offers regarding the IB diploma
So basically when i received my IB results last week, i needed 36 ib points to get into the University of Exeter, Accounting and Finance course, with a 5 in math SL... Well i got a 6 in math SL, but a 35 for my total. Basically, what im wondering is, is it still possible for the university to still give me an unconditional offer since i only missed the offer by 1 point?
Also, lets say i did meet the conditions of the offer, like does the univeristy give out all the unconditional offers to the students through UCAS track all at the same time? Or is it given out at different times?
And last question, since i missed the offer, is the university going to email me telling me they will update in August after the A results come out if they would still accept me or will they just do it without telling me beforehand?

Sorry for these questions its just that im really worried and it really sucks that i missed my offer by 1 point so yeah.

    1. There are two conditions in your offer, and you have met your specific requirement for Maths but you missed the general requirement for total IB score, which still means that you have NOT met your offer conditions and the uni has the right to withdraw their offer.

However, since you only missed your offer by 1 point, it is possible that the university still gives you an unconditional offer, it all depends on how lenient the university is.

If I were you I would call Exeter directly before they receive your results to explain your situation. you might still be accepted, or you might have to wait until A-level results day for their final decision.

    2. I don't know about Exeter, but in my school some people have offers from the same university and their track was updated at different times. It depends on which department the course is, and how fast the university process the results

    3. Again, I wouldn't wait untill the university to contact me. Everyone I know who miss his/her offer has contacted the university before they contac them, so I can't answer whether or not they will inform you before they make a decision.

    Anyway, Good luck!

I did contact the university, all they would say was that they would update UCAS track once a decision has been made. Not very helpful at all.

    Thanks for replying though

Does UCAS track update it automatically if you have not made the offer or is it in the hands of someone at the university who looks at your case say you missed your offer by one point, and then decides to make it unsuccessful on track? As in is it an automatic update or a proper decision?

Im guessing its a proper decision and not an automatic update. Im still freaking out though cause my friend who made her offer at the University of Exeter has received her unconditional offer from them yesterday and I have not received a reply from them yet. I also called them today but all they would say is "email us the results and we'll get back to you" even though I told them numerous times that I have already emailed the results to you. But okay lol.
