    Would a virtual Mall work?
    This is just an idea which i thought would be cool;
    1.Lets say u surf
    2. Then you actually walk through the mall, window shopping.
    3. Any purchases would be added to your basket as normal
    4. Choose delivery methods etc.

    Im not all technical but how cool would that be...
    Maybe you will be alerted when your Facebook or Twitter friends enter the mall, go shopping together!!!

    Any more Ideas?

    But could it work?

    Initially it sounds like a good idea, but would it really catch on? Surely it would actually be a lot less convenient than regular internet shopping, without the benefits you get from being in a real physical shop, like being able to physically see the products and take them home with you that day.

    Its basically various kinds of shops on one site! I think it could catch on... If it does, the financial reaping would be mind blowing...
    Comparing prices would so easy, from Armani to Primak all under one virtual site.:fuhrer:

    Ah, so you don't mean a virtual 3D environment then?

    In that case, I think it could work. Essentially it's a price comparison site with social networking features. But I wouldn't try to build a whole social network around it, probably better to integrate it with facebook somehow.

    Shoppers would get the option of the 3D environment.

    I think it sounds pretty cool.

    Don't know if it would catch on though, some people internet shop because they know exactly what they're looking for and because it's quick with search bars etc.

    To be honest, I think that's the sort of thing people might think is cool at first, and then realise it's pointless and just makes it more inconvenient. That said, it might attract people to your site, so that's a win even if they do decide not to use it after the first couple of times they use the site. But the down side is that it would be a significant investment making that part of it which seems a bit of a waste if in the end it doesn't really make your site better.

    And another thing to think about is that it's not just customers you've got to attract, it's the shops themselves. They might like the idea of having their own virtual shop where they can push their brand, but they might not like the fact that people can go into "their" shop, but then also instantly see where they can get the same products cheaper.

    Point taken but i think the shops will buy into this easily; then again this is the kind of idea in which infinite number of ideas could add, if you get what i mean.
    It will create opportunities for smaller business to market their products alongside the mega-brands.

    You havent even heard my cinema idea!!!( could be veeerry stupid...)

    Aye, the 3D environment thing sounds good but my only concern would be the lag this may create. If someone has a lower performing laptop/desktop, then this may create issues and consequently, reduce custom.

    The current set up of online retailers seems to work fine for now but it's a good thought OP.

    If the environment was simple enough (it would have to be somewhat stylised to look good), then I don't think performance would be a huge issue. For example you can run World of Warcraft on pretty much any laptop these days.

    I think the bigger issue is that people would soon find the 3D environment just gets in the way of their shopping. Rather than just clicking a button to take them to a shop, they have to walk their character over to it. Of course you probably would give people the option to do that, but then they'd end up not even using the 3D environment making it a bit pointless.

    Whatever you are buying, be it clothing, groceries, furniture etc will have more details;
    Plus window shopping or just shopping at the same time with friends/family will be exhilarating!

    Most probably have this shïtty graphic laggy software design in mind, perhaps hindering your view on this idea.

    As i said i aint technical so i asked you guys would it work, could a software be programmed that will provide crystal clear graphics and sound... atm we are off course...

    Thanx 4 ur comments though keep 'em coming!

    I don't understand how I have any of these more than I do on existing websites?
    I can already see really clear photographs / 3D models of the clothing, furniture etc. What you'll never be able to give me are textures, an impression of comfort or an actually accurate colour to match against my wall. And this would all still be true even with the most advanced CG modelling you can conceive.

    It sounds like Second Life with supermarkets and big franchises. If I was wanting to do some shopping, I wouldn't want to have to load up a 3D environment for it. The whole idea with online shopping is I'm too busy to go to the shops, let alone to play a game to do it.
