Who have opened up their applications so far? Can somebody give me a list of whom so far? Thanks!
I'd appreciate this also. As far as I am aware it's only E&Y and Deloitte. None of the houses, and PWC is September?

Only like 2 sets of 4 questions for each competency.

They're just pretty straight forward, and very quick.

They must just use them to thin out a little really. I froze badly on a math one, totally recomposed myself and still had a little time to spare.
Are you through to interview at E+Y then?

I would assume so. I don't really know WTF their process is to be honest. It looks like I've passed everything and am pooled until post-deadline for interviews beginning 6th September.

Frankly I'm aiming a bit higher than E&Y - so not paying particularly close attention to it.

Anyone had their first round interview with E&Y yet?

I have mine coming up soon and just wanted a few tips Ive done the usual homework and stuff, just not sure whether its going to be a full competency interview (these are a bitch after only doing a year at university with not much experience) and whether I need to prepare for these kinds of questions.

When it comes to the Big 4, which consulting sections are the most competitive? And how competitive would we be talking, like would they generally only look for people from the better universities?

I will be starting an MSc in Business Analytics in September in UCD Smurfit, it's very similar to Operational Research. This is aimed towards consulting but more so IT consulting. I would be more interested in the Strategy or Financial side of things. How good would one's knowledge of Finance need to be for say Corporate Finance M&A consulting?

For the Ernst and Young application, why do they ask for a CV and cover letter as well as filling in the form? Obviously as they say you can upload one i will supply it, but is it a requisite? Also i saved my form as a draft, not complete, but got sent links to a test to do, and it says i need to complete this in 3 days of receiving the email, i would have thought i only needed to do this once the form was complete?
Is this for an internship or grad scheme? I got the email to do a online strengths test before submitting my form but pretty sure it said to do the test within 3 days of submitting the form, and not within 3 days of getting the email?

It was alright, I had never done one before either but I just answered honestly and what I thought theyd want me to do if id just joined (e.g. cancel personal plans to work late or whatever) and I got through.
The verbal, numerical and diagrammatic test was incredibly easy.

Ah okay, hopefully I should be alright at them. Thanks!

Strategy is by far the most selective. Deloitte have higher benchmarks for strategy, need more UCAS points and attracts stronger candidates. However- the actual amount of strategy work Deloitte do compared to the upper-tier houses is limited.

In terms of Corporate Finance M&A again this is the most prestigious work the B4 do. You will certainly be competing against a large contingent of Oxford/LSE etc. Thus you'd need to have a decent CV and be very strong overall.

Is there any point applying straight for a grad position if I have no summer internship (and graduate in 2013)? Only a spring week in IB.

Yeah why not? A spring week in IB is better than nothing and I know people who have got onto grad schemes with no spring or summer internships. It's worth a go so long as you meet the grad scheme requirements.

Applied for the same one (Manchester) - got an interview in Birmingham next week Wednesday. Be warned for interviews they normally call early-mid afternoon and with a withheld number, do not ignore it! And if you applied for a Manchester position I'm told they don't have slots there at the moment, which is why I've been asked to attend Birmingham! (Full travel expense tho!)

Thankfully I'm applying for Birmingham so my interview is there which is good, I hope I don't have to travel to the AC providing I get through.
