    Scored lower than predicted
I was predicted to score 33 points in the IB diploma. But on July 6th I received some bad news, I only scored 29 points. I had planned to at least reach my predicted points so now I do not know what to do. I was planning on going to the University of Leeds (among others) but they required a minimum of 34 points. I was wondering if taking a Foundation Programme would be the best option for me since I have come short in all of my applied universities. I want to apply to the Univ. of Warwick and City University London's foundation programmes but I am not sure if doing a Foundation programme would be the best option.

I would love to see what you guys think.

    thanks,

    Robbert

A foundation year can be used as a bridging gap to university. Foundation years are widely accepted. I did mine at Loughborough and used it to apply to other universities.

I wrote a bit about my experience in my sig links.

Hey, don't be put down! Go for the foundation and work your ass off.

Predicted are usually too high, in my case anyway.. I scored 3 points below my predicted.

Try e-mailing the uni to see if they will still accept you, if not, then go into foundation.
Also, take into account if you can handle the workload- if you need another year to prep, then go for the foundation.

It seems like your saying that going into Foundation is alot of work, is that correct? Or can you compare it to IB?

29 is quite a good score. You might not get the very top uni's but you still have a shot at some decent ones. You can still check up universities on Clearing once it starts.

This is actually a pretty good idea.

But with 29 you'd probably only get into under subscribed courses in not- so- good unis. Then it's up to you whether you want a foundation year or go into clearing.

Saachi I agree, I do not really want to "settle" for a not-so-good uni, and I hope that by doing a foundation year I have a chance in getting into a good uni. And what do you mean with clearing?

I didn't do the foundation. Went straight for law as my grades may have been lower than predicted- but I never said they were bad.

What I said is: if the school gives you a chance, go straight for 1st year, as foundation is usually for kids who cannot speak english fluently.

UCAS Tariff for IB is high if I remember correctly. You should be able to get into most unis which specify xx points.
