Section of Olympics Tube Advert - What nonsense is this?
The advert - Look to the very far bottom right. Look at the gentleman on the right-hand side of the woman waving the red flag.

Here is a tube advert for the Olympics:

    http://www.thedrum.co.uk/uploads/dru...evaulter_0.jpg

Now, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it does seem quite silly to put him there, all alone and out of the way of everybody else. They could have just blended him into the background of everybody near the station, like putting him next to the guy with orange hair or something

Just seems a bit strange, that's all. What do you guys think of it - just a random coincidence or occurrence?

UPDATE: Actually, I've just come up with a more plausible theory. If you read the text on the right, you'll see that it's advising to travel by foot or by bike (i.e. not using the tube). Maybe in order to better get this point across or be persuasive, the advertiser has planted the guy on the right in order play on stereotypes about Muslim terrorists. You'd find it hard to prove in a court of law, but it is certainly very plausible, no? A ploy on the subconscious.

    What does everybody else think?

    P.S.

A further thing - the advert isn't even representative. Everybody is white apart from the dodgy Arab in the bottom far right. :lolwut:

Implying that everyone should walk to work in the Olympics to avoid being bombed into oblivion. Well done, LOCOG.

or an even more plausible theory is they drew the picture, some bureaucrat complained there wasn't enough diversity so they slapped on an Arab.

Could be another one in the very bottom left corner (might need to zoom in to see it), or it could be an Italian.

It's certainly no more ridiculous than British Airways advertising 'Don't fly' lol - they must be so financially secure from all of the foreigners coming and going during this period that they don't need any more passengers

Just one Arab, with a mass of white people - 'tis a bit ridiculous, considering East London itself has a large Arab/Islamic etc population.

Where's the Black Man, the Chinese, the Indian?

Because prejudices are unfounded connotations whereas stereotypes have an ounce of truth.

Look in the bottom left, Boris is responsible. He's not intelligent enough to do any subliminal stuff so I think you're over-analysing.

    Seems quite diverse to me.

The guy directly below the blue flag (facing away) might be Chinese. There is a person underneath the armpit of the person on the right with the orange flag wearing dark glasses - so they could be blind - and who's to say that the two guys to the right of the bloke with the orange afro aren't gay?

Art is a mode of representation. The figure wearing the turban or head scarf does not have to represent a person. It could be an artistic analogy representing something sinister like a terrorist threat, and Al-Qaeda, a terrorist organisation, was founded by Osama ben Laden, which, I think, is the figure represented here.

Looks like something that Siobhan's design team would come out with during an episode of Twenty-Twelve
