Electric, Water and Gas being under six names?

Electric, Water and Gas being under six names?Hey!
Me and 5 friends are moving into a house together for second year of university. One person is moving in already, the others in September.
The problem is, he has not yet signed up for any electric, water or gas!
I think his worried about it being all in his name!
Is it possible to ring up for electric, water and gas bills for the house and putting it in six names? ... I think his just worried about it being under 'his name'

Re: Electric, Water and Gas being under six names?i dont blame him being worried because if any of you didnt pay then he'd be the one being chased by the companies! anyway i can't speak for all companies but Eon and Anglian Water were happy to put multiple names on the bill for us(Original post by NewStartAndAllThat)

Re: Electric, Water and Gas being under six names?I think most utlitey companies still let you pay by cheque, but they will have a deadline you have to pay by- usually displayed on the bill, so if someone is slow coming up with the money the person whose responsibility it is to write the cheque will still have to pay regardless. Its a problem whichever way you pay.(Original post by NewStartAndAllThat)
Can we not do it so that we have to pay by cheque?
So at least then whoever writes the cheque can make sure they have the money from everyone before they send it off? -

Re: Electric, Water and Gas being under six names?We're with British Gas and you just go on the website to pay the bill every month (they don't automatically take it out) you get given a date to pay it by but if you don't have the money from all your housemates then you can pay after the date (we had to do this a few times with housemates not paying on time)
