    What about video editing
Can't find a sub forum or inclusive forum for this but I'm wondering, does anyone use adobe premiere on an i5-2450m processor and what is it like. I'm about to buy an 8gb ram, i5-2450m, radeon graphics card with 2gb dedicated, will this be enough to run premiere as on my previous dell I couldn't even import videos due to the resource needs of the program

You should be fine. I use Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop on my PC, which is a 1.8Ghz CPI, 4Gb RAM, and 1Gb RAM Graphics Card (can't remember what make/model). The above programs run fine on it.

Thanks alot, you saved me over a £100 I was reading that I should get an i7 as premiere uses 100% of the 4 cores most of the time but the 5 should be good. If anything I'll find aa less intensive program

Are you buying a laptop of this spec or upgrading a laptop to this spec?

At first I though you were talking about upgrades but now it seems more likely you are buying a laptop with these specs.

And more related to your question in the OP, I have run Adobe Premiere and After Effects on a laptop with a lower spec (2.2 GHz AMD Dual core) and the program ran alright, I can't remember what rendering with it was like but I imagine it took a long time.

i'm buying, i was under the impression that generally we couldnt upgrade more than ram without great difficulty in a laptop. i suppose if you can run it thats more than I can do now so I'll take that over my current situation.

anyone have any suggestions for other programs that I can use more high end like premiere, right now i use something called videopad video editor, it can play backwards, do slowmotion etc but it's still quite basic

Yeah that was why I asked, I read the OP and immediately assumed you were upgrading, then I saw the m on the processor model number and got a bit confused as to what you were doing or planning to do. It is not common to upgrade anything more than RAM or maybe the hard drive in a laptop but I see no reason why it is not possible providing the components are compatible.

Sony Vegas is similar and IMO is a little but easier to use than Premiere, I think you can get some versions pretty cheap compared to Premiere.

Thanks for that I think I'll try Vegas. I'll probably buy it with it
