is re-instating an application better than re-applying?

I am planning to take a gap year for re-applying to LSE. I had applied for MSc Economics and after not being accepted on my first choice, I am now planning to work for a year in a development related field and apply for MSc Development Studies. My grades are good and my interest in the field is definitely propelling me to leave my offers from UCL nad Warwick for MSc Economics and take this chance!! *So desperate to get into LSE in a course of my choice*!! :s-smilie:

Now, since LSE provides this option of reinstatement, should I prefer it over re-applying? Would it be a disadvantage in terms of my previous not very good GRE scores(according to LSE standards) in my 2012 application?

While GRE is imperative for MSc Economics, it says on the MSc Development Studies page that if GRE scores are submitted, they will be considered but are not mandatory! Help!!
