Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 yearsPipe down you violent halfwit. Sending me PMs demanding to know who I am is just pathetic. Can't you see how difficult it is to commence normal debate when you are behaving like this?(Original post by billydisco)

Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 yearsI sent you a pm so this debate could continue normally. Instead you get all scared and tell everybody that you're being sent pms.(Original post by johnaulich)

If you're going to give it the big mouth and insult people, insult them to their face.....
If you can't- don't act the big hard man -
Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 yearsI'm sure you realize how very impractical it would be for me to come and say anything to your face. Anyway, I'm getting really bored now and have people with half a brain cell to continue a more intellectually charged discourse with, so bye.(Original post by billydisco)

Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 years
I'm surprised how dim many on this forum are. You're supposed to be students who stay in school until at least 16, where you're supposed to learn stuff.
Let me make this really simple. More immigration means labour costs are lower and in the short term the government can keep on paying for the aging population. This is a nation with a lot of old people who rely on public services a LOT. All of the tax and NI contributions those old folk made over the years were used up by past governments. Do we want to throw them onto the streets to die? If not, the government needs economic activity that can be taxed continuously. So that means a short quick fix is: bring in Johnny Foreigner to keep costs for business down.
Perfect solution, right? Well, no. The workforce already here is less in demand by employers because of the competition from Johnny. The working population is not rich or privileged but needs money to maintain standards of living and improve them, and psychologically needs a chance to go 'up'. This doesn't happen when you level the playing field all the time by bringing in more foreigners. So what happens? The working people already here become resentful. If this resentment can be focused, say towards a visible ethnic minority, it presents a risk to the government policy. If people see a lot of brownies here they see a lot of immigration and a lot of competition. The government wants the freedom to import or encourage immigrants without the working classes (that means YOU if you ever need to get any job at all in your life) objecting to their policy.
How to fix this obstacle to keeping labour costs (for business) down to sustain a taxable economy? Simple. Make it invisible. That means bring in Russians, East Europeans, Anything White-and-Poor. OK?? The BNP are happy, the working classes blame their condition on the gods or go and watch TV, etc. Business as usual.
Hope you get it now but I rather suspect you mostly don't.Last edited by Picaa; 28-07-2012 at 01:53. -
Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 years
What an idiot, he also wants a vague immigration cap, or at least the tories do, which one is it?
However I do not get the argument of we need young migrant workers to support all of the old Brits in this country, when youth unemployment is at 25-30% ?
Surely we should start by getting them employed first? -
Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 yearsI've got news for you. You are not a person with an inner core of sacrosanct youness. You are just a factor of production. Business is a machine and you are its fuel. It's a machine that doesn't care about the colour of your skin, your 'culture', your birth certificate or passport. It wants complete freedom to pay as little as possible in costs and price its product or services to optimise revenue. Where does nationalism fit into a business model where a factory can pack up and set up again in Malaysia if your labour becomes too expensive or you become too stroppy? In short, in the merciless gaze of business, there are no soft feelings for Britain. Politicians will say anything for popularity in their niche (fanatics or ideologues) or region. That doesn't affect business either. Your enemy is the globalisation of markets and the derestriction of trade. Until you defeat it, nothing makes you too special to be exploited.(Original post by AntiMonarchist)

Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 years
People should always be free to live in whatever country they please (of course, this isn't the case right now in all countries but hopefully one day). If your right to live in another country was completely taken away, wouldn't you be morally outraged? I would be. I don't want to live in the UK all my life.

Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 years
Voting isn't going to change anything. We will still be just another factor of production (and maybe a source of cannon fodder) in a global economy run by a few mega-rich individuals, families and corporations. UK independence isn't going to happen, no matter who you vote for or what their beliefs are. It's too far gone for that. There is a massive secret state that goes up against anyone whose political paradigm threatens the Tory-Labour-Lib Dem farce. We are more than half a century past the Treaty of Rome now. Anger at non-white immigrants is a symptom of failure. At this point it's illegal for Britain to move warships independently of NATO 'partners' so how the heck can a grey haired guy from the shires in a suit with a megaphone reverse all that?

Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 years
...Oh dear...
Its seems that the Tories have given in to the Labour trick of letting in immigrants to vote for their party...
People are truly rubbish- I am 100% non racist I don't care one bit where anyone is from but allowing people to come to our country when there our record levels of youth unemployment (Largely due entitlement issues- but that's a problem to be fixed and not ignored!), increased immigration will only make things much worse- an increase in ghettoes, crime, overcrowding and unemployment. This will lead to greater tension and hostility from British Natives and will lead to much more nutters like Breivik walking around.
Britain may be a country founded on immigration- but not to such a mass extent over so short a period such a diverse and far reaching environment. -
Re: Osborne says Britain needs HIGHER levels of immigration over the next 50 yearsi just meant if they are turned down for work and cant get work when you said they should have benefits took of them then how would they survive without any income ?(Original post by pr0view)
Well that's racism if they refuse to hire someone on the grounds that they are British. -
