Re: what are the stupidest transfer rumours you have ever heard?1st of April (2011).(Original post by Pastaferian)
There was a rumour earlier this year (the date escapes me for the moment) that Portugal would sell Ronaldo to Spain to ease the debts it was incurring due to the Euro-crisis.
Portugal 'sells' Ronaldo to Spain in £160m deal on national debt
Or did you already know that and I've just spoiled it?

As April Fool's Day jokes go, it was one of the best I've seen. -
Re: what are the stupidest transfer rumours you have ever heard? Not really. It's slightly funny but as soon as I heard it, without even knowing the day the article was created, I guessed it was an April Fools joke. A good April Fools article needs to be believable to some extent.(Original post by Pastaferian)

The date was April 1st. Now isn't there something special about that day of the year?

Edit: Damn it, really need to read every page until the end of threads before posting...Last edited by SandyN; 26-07-2012 at 13:21. -
Re: what are the stupidest transfer rumours you have ever heard?
My club Lincoln City have been constantly linked to old pros that might drop down the league. A Dwight Yorke rumour happened every season for 3/4 years - someone always spotted him somewhere (allegedly!)
It was stupid because it always had an element of believability in it - same as rumours that linked us to Michael Bridges. The regularity got a little annoying though!
