Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
"But what I do know, is to us the world is different, as we are to the world, but I guess you would know that." Illusion- VNV Nation
"The book of love has music in it,
In fact, that's where music comes from,
Some of it's just transcendental,
Some of it's just really dumb.
But I, I love it when you sing to me,
And you, you can sing me anything."
The Book of Love- Peter Gabriel -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
"All that we share is our struggle for silence."- Spaceape, Spaceape
"That’s all we need know
To synchronise. To love
To the beat of the show." -Transmission, Joy Division
"You know once I had a true love
Lord, her age was just 16.
She was the flower of Belton
And the Rose of Aberdeen.
But her parents did not like me
And now she feels much the same
If I’m written in your diary
Well, blot out my name.
For there’s changes in the ocean
And there’s changes in the sea
And there’s changes in my one true love
But there ain’t no change in me." -Rose of Aberdeen[B], Simon & Garfunkel
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written
On the subway walls and tenement halls."
And whispered in the sounds of silence. --Sound of Silence, Simon & Garfunkel
"I never sleep
Because sleep is the cousin of death."- NY State of Mind, Nas
"The buildings tumbled in on themselves. Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair. The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze.
I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful.
These are truly the last days."
You grabbed my hand and we fell into it, like a daydream
Or a fever. We woke up one morning and fell a little further down
For sure it's the valley of death.
I open up my wallet
And it is full of blood."- Dead Flag Blues], Godspeed You! Black Emperor
I should set the steel trap of your thighs and dive right in. -Despite What You’ve Been Told], Two Gallants
And when they kiss they spit white noise. -First Night, The Hold Steady
Sweet taste of sin.
Everything I’ve seen
Made me everything I am. -Pray, Jay-Z
“Don’t you know? They’re
Talking about a revolution. Sounds
Like a whisper.” -Talkin’ Bout A Revolution, Tracy Chapman
“Dead in the middle of little Italy little did we know
That we riddled some middlemen who didn’t do diddly”- -Twinz (Deep Cover ’98), Fat Joe and Big Pun
My every move is a calculated step to bring me closer
To embracing early death. Now, there’s nothing left.
There was no mercy on the streets. I couldn’t rest.
I’m barely standing, about to go to pieces, screaming
“peace.” -So Many Tears, 2Pac -

"I can still remember when your city smelled exciting.
I still get a whiff of that aroma now and then." - Calm Like You by The Last Shadow Puppets
"Half a moon, half a man
Have this sun and have this land
But mind the blood there on your hand
I heard you have a tricky kiss
Adumbrate the lovers that penetrate your lips" - Half a Moon by Crystal Stilts -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
All my motives and every single narrative below reflects
that moment when it broke and will I never let it go
No matter what? Now I am throwing all the shards away,
discarding every fragment, and fumbling uncertain towards a Curtain call
that no one wants to happen,
that no ones going to clap for at all, but that still has to be.
La Dispute - A Broken Jar
I breathed your name into the air; I etched your name into me.
I felt my anger swelling; I swam into its sea.
I held your name inside my heart, but it got buried in my fear.
It tore the wiring of my brain; I did my best to keep it clear.
So, dear, no matter how we part, I hold you sweetly in my head.
And if I do not miss a part of you, a part of me is dead.
If I can't love you as a lover, I will love you as a friend.
And I will lay a bed before you; keep you safe until the end.
La Dispute - Andria
It's here for us to admire if we can afford the beauty of it
Can afford the luxury of turning our heads
Adjust that thousand dollars smile and behold the creation of man
Great words won't cover ugly actions - good frames won't save bad paintings
Refused - New Noise -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
I absolutely love this from Muse:
"During the struggle
They will pull us down
But please, please
Let's use this chance
To turn things around
And tonight
We can truly say
Together we're invincible"
It'sjust such a touching thought to imagine that in a relationship and no matter who tries stopping you you both manage to work through it together.
"One look sends it coursing through the veins oh how the feeling races
Back up to their brains to form expressions on there stupid faces
They don't want to say hello
Like I want to say hello
Oh the heartbeats at its peak when you're coming up to speak"
Sums it up pretty well from the Arctic Monkeys in a more literal sense and realistic one. It really makes me laugh becuase their lyrics are how I imagine I'd write songs, as I see it like they do. When he's talking about how all the lads at a club look so stupid staring at girls and think they're onto something when they're even glanced at.
Tbh I could go on all night, I love so many lyrics. I'll find some more as I listen :P -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
Demi Lovato - Skyscraper:
"go and try to tear me down, I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper
Coldplay - Fix you:
"lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and i will try to fix you"
The Killers - When You Were Young:
"They say the devil's water it ain't so sweet
You don't have to drink right now, but you can dip your feet every once in a little while" -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
"To say it's love would be too simple, too obvious. It's more like a calling, a vocation, something I was put on this earth to do. Now I'm shooting with the stars and I'm flying with the angels and my heartbeat is a symphony, the closer I get to you" - If I Can't Have You, Meat Loaf
"'Cos love's such an old fashioned word and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night and love changes our way of caring about ourselves. This is our last dance. This is ourselves" - Under Pressure, Queen
"I'll be there 'til the stars don't shine, 'til the heavens burst and the words don't rhyme. I know when I die, you'll be on my mind and I'll love you. Always" Always - Bon Jovi
So many more. Lyrics are my absolute favourite things
<3
Oh also - "I started swearing to my God and on my mother's grave that I would love you 'til the end of time. I swore I'd love you 'til the end of time...So now I'm praying for the end of time to hurry up and arrive, cos if I gotta spend another minute with you I don't think that I could really survive...Praying for the end of time is all that I can do. Praying for the end of time so I can end my time with you" - Paradise By the Dashboard Light, Meat LoafLast edited by Catherine0405; 13-07-2012 at 21:46. -
Re: What's your favourite ever song lyric?
"The truth is
You could slit my throat
And with my one last gasping breath
I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt."
You're So Last Summer by Taking Back Sunday. Touching, in a slightly graphic way.
EDIT: Oh, and also the whole of Nicest Thing by Kate Nash. Sums up everything!Last edited by Paramore<3; 13-07-2012 at 23:00. -

Will they say I was a giver or remember I was selfish Will they say I was a sinner or pretend I was a saint Will I go down as a winner, what's the picture they gon paint Wouldn't say that I'm a quitter that's one thing I know I ain't ain't Will they tarnish, will they taint? Glorify me, overthink, say they know me, say I'm great Say I'm phoney, I was fake Say the things about me that they never told me to my face I was loved I was hated Just a ***** with a dream I'm a liar I was honest, I was all of these things When I'm gone let em talk They discussing who I am When they bury me just know I was nothing but a man Wasn't nothin' but a
