What are the people like at college compared to secondary school?
I am in Year 10 (nearly in Year 11) and there seems to be a lot of immaturity at my school. There's also a lot of insults between students (e.g. on intelligence, how they look etc) and I find it quite repulsing, along with the disobedience and wayward attitudes from students I sometimes see. This could be because I attend a single-sex school.

Hence, I am wondering, what is sixth form/ college like to high school/secondary school and do students become more tolerant and mature during/ after the transition?
Thanks

Sexual frustration maybe as they're going through puberty.
But on a serious note, those people exist even at college. They exist everywhere really, maybe not as much as high school but you get the point. Try and avoid who you dont like to be around. -

Re: What are the people like at college compared to secondary school? They won't become more mature over the summer, so its generally the same. There will be annoying, immature people along with others who aren't like that.

I found it a lot better. My college wasn't attached to a secondary school, so there were a lot of new people and a lot of people full stop. It was well regarded as well so people came from a fair distance to go there.
This is going to sound horribly elitist of me but I believe that the face it was not attached to a secondary school was a filtering mechanism. Most of the people who didn't want to be there and were just ********s tended not to go there, as the people at my college tended to have a specific reason to go there; if they were just going to college because it was the next thing to do, they tended to stay where they were.
Also, because it was so big and was only a college, if you didn't like a group of people you just ignored each other. Much better than in secondary school where everyone was forced into the same space.
One big thing that should be universal; people choose to go to sixth form, so the lessons are a lot better. Even if there are disruptive students the college has no obligation to keep them in education, they'll just get asked to leave whereas in secondary school they might be suspended but ultimately they had to stay at school. -

I went to one of the more selective sixth form colleges. Idiots still existed but genuine nastiness mostly vanished. Even very noisy lessons tended to have a very nice atmosphere to them. I think it definitely helps to get rid of people who have no interest or motivation to learn. This is compared to my previous school, which was a comprehensive community college.
