Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsThey told me at the interview that I'd got the job, but I wouldn't worry, I've known other people who have been successful at an interview with M&S who were informed a couple of days later.(Original post by . . .)
How long did it take you to receive a reply after the interview?
I did too but I've probably messed it up as I told them I "may" be going university depending on my grades. I didn't want to lie straight to their face.
If you aren't successful, try Gumtree jobs for your city if you haven't already. There are a lot of questionable jobs on there but also a lot of genuine ones from well-known companies and short term work from smaller businesses is often available too.
This has to be my all-time favourite vacancy: http://www.gumtree.com/p/jobs/driver...ents/107045792

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobs
I know and have seen so many people that work for reputable IT companies earning £20k+ wages yet have no degree qualifications, A-Levels, poor GCSE grades and fulfill few of the requirements of the role. Makes me feel like I have wasted all my time that I invested in a degree and independent learning. I thought it was relatively easy to get a job in London though I may just have to try a little harder...or elsewhere!

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsHow did the interview go? Hope you did well - mine was very bizarre haha. I had to walk around critiquing the store, staff and displays(Original post by Swindon)

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobspractically everyone has to accept a job they dont want at some point, to survive not to buy unnecessary crap.(Original post by . . .)
Nothing is wrong about getting a job but getting a job that you don't necessarily enjoy doing just to buy useless crap you don't need is a pretty **** way of life and way of thinking (Read fight club). If you have a job which you enjoy doing then it's a different matter.
That's arguable and this thread isn't about capitalism Vs Socialism so nobody is going to argue with you. -

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsNice rant, glad I'm not the only one who is feeling like ****! I've been looking for a job since finishing my A levels - no luck either!! It's absolutely RIDICULOUS! How are we gonna get experiences if we don't get hired by these stupud selfish employers.(Original post by . . .)
For the last two months since finishing A-Levels every single ****ing day I've been looking for jobs. I'm sick and tired of this ****. I don't understand what the **** I've done to deserve this crap. There have been weeks where I have been applying to 10 jobs a day. I've been rejected from cleaning jobs, McDonalds, Tesco and ASDA any other major supermarket you can think of. The most annoying thing is the vast majority of these ****ers don't have the decency to actually tell you you've been rejected. I finally gave in and applied for JSA today after running down my savings to £10 over the past 2 months.
If you're an employer go **** yourself. ****ing *****.
/End rant.
Needed to get that off my chest and no I don't have a question.

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsI had an interview and passed just waiting to see if I got a job now. I recommend M&S as they just ask you questions about what you would do in certain situations. No work experience questions were asked until after my interview when it didn't really matter.(Original post by Jokes247)

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsI don't remember having to tell my academic history. How did you apply? Did you do it online? It might just be my terrible memory.(Original post by Arsene Wenger)

TBH so far I've avoided those that ask to upload a CV, because I can't think of a lot of relevant stuff to put on it(Original post by . . .)

Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsCongratulations!

I got a call from M&S telling me if I got the job or not today but I missed the call. So they said they will ring me back later but still haven't rang. I'm going to wait till 7 and then give them a ring as the store closes at 8.Last edited by . . .; 07-08-2012 at 18:52. -
Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsI once thought like that. After getting rejections from absolutely ****e jobs I started applying for good ones and got a hell of a lot more interviews and job offers.(Original post by onda)
Have you tried sansbury's?
And lower your standards
in this climate you should take anything
Apply to a job that requires criteria that you meet and you have instantly eliminated the people that don't meet it as competition. -
Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsAgreed my dad kept telling me off for applying for loads of jobs that were low paid and now that I got a job I sort of agree to a certain extent. Being too ambitious doesn't help but I also believe that lowering your standards and applying for anything doesn't help either. A job that one should apply for is one that you meet all the job description really well but not one that one is overqualified for. I found in my job search that it was the better paid jobs that I was interested in doing that got back to me and none of the lower paid jobs got back to me apart from one admin job in recruitment in which I had a few phone conversations and was even really eager to meet me I then told her I want a job paying over 20k (the job is in London) and then she changed her tone and decided not to meet me for an interview(Original post by Llamageddon)

. Thought I made a huge mistake and a day later I had a job interview for a job paying 24k and I got it.
I know its hard for a lot of graduates and we all just want to get a job to earn some money and to start off in our career but don't lower your standards too much and get into the trap of applying for anything. Now I'm not saying that we should be overambitious and we are too big for certain jobs but sometimes employers do not like to employ people who are overqualified for a job so applying for jobs that we are overqualified for can also go against us than jobs that one is underqualified for. -
Re: I'm sick and tired of looking for ****ing jobsThanks man, and hopefully you get the M&S job too.(Original post by . . .)
