Possible to retake third year at another university?
Just got my results back and got a 2:2, which im not really happy with.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to retake the third year on a similar course at a seperate university?

Has anyone had any experience or know of someone who's done this?

No i have already finished the third year, plus i really don't want to have to resit the modules they offered that aren't even web development related.

I know at my uni, you cannot retake your final year unless there are extenuating circumstances.

If you were close to a 2:1, maybe you could dispute it and get it remarked? A friend of mine is doing that and he isn't going to graduate until November now.

Contact your uni and find out!

No this is not possible, you can't just shop around until you get the degree you think you deserve. Sorry if this is not the answer you were hoping for.

Try finding out if you can transfer into 3rd year of a similar degree in your current uni, you should haev fulfilled the passes for the necessary core units so transferring to a similar degree shouldn't be that much of a problem. Have you also thought about doing a Masters, having a 2.2 will make you a lot less competitive in the job market unfortunately so completing a Masters in something related to your degree would do wonders for you.

Also how close were you to achieving a 2.1? if you weren't off by much you can appeal, assuming you have decent medical evidence in the form of a doctors note they are usually happy to bring you up to a 2.1 on a unit you were close to getting one in. I don't like this idea but as long as you have erm...:ninja: legit mitigating circumstances and your GP is happy go along with it then it's an option.

Isn't it difficult to get into a Masters with only a 2:2? most are looking for 2:1's.

True, that is very true. However isn't the OP into web development, that's quite niche isn't it. There must be some uni's out there willing to accept student onto Postgraduate studies with a 2.2? I'm not entirely sure

Brunel doesn't specify what degree they require, at least not for the postgrads that I've been looking at.

There's a MSc in Web Development at Plymouth that only requires a 2:2, so i might apply for that. Only problem is I have no idea where i'd get the funding from, so would probably have to work for a couple of years to save up the money. The university I got my 2:2 at says it will give funding for post graduate courses, but I'm assuming that's only for post grad courses they have.

Apply for masters that ask for a 2.1 as well. They may let you onto the course with a bit of luck and maybe an interview.

If the degree has been awarded, all your results have effectively be cashed in. So it is unlikely that another university with allow you to just take the third year again. Since you have been awarded a degree, you would not normally be eligible for student finance for another third year.

Since the OP has a specific area that you wish to specialise in, an MSc would be a better option. You may be able to fund the MSc with a career development loan (CDL). Contact the universities which have the courses you are interested in, see if they have spaces and if they would accept you. Do not be put off by the "we require a 2:1...", at this stage, universities are looking to fill courses. The places offering the more specialised computing courses tend not to be Russel group and not quite so picky. It will help if you have good marks in modules relevant to the area you want to specialise in.

I'm in a similar situation on a Web Development degree, just finished the second year, took modules not related to Web. Are you prepared to say which university you went to?
