Big 4 Office Transfer Regional ---> London
I am starting a grad scheme with EY at a regional office. I want to move to London at some point though and was wondering how to go about getting a transfer.

Does anyone know if it is possible to make this kind of transfer and if so when is the best time to ask?

I am trying to decide whether I need to reapply to the Big 4 offices in London or to qualify here and then make the transfer (first world problems I know!)

    Thanks in advance!

It is certainly possible, somebody has just done it in my department (moved from Birmingham to London) and a year ago we had somebody move from London to Manchester.

It would be something you discussed with your people manager in your department, don't know what they call them at EY. Obviously no guarentees that it's possible for you at the time you look to do it but they'd rather lose you to another department at the same firm than to another firm so they're likely to try.

Wanting to move to London at some point is fine, but if you're going to rock up on day one and say "Hi, I'd like to move to London" it won't do you any favours. It's certainly possible though.

Here, here. Wait for at least a year, get to know your seniors, you will need a reference from your regional office.

Kemik - I've looked back at some of your posts and saw you transferred to Reading. Was this during your training contract? Did you have a business case for the transfer?
