    My academic record
Basically, I have had a lot of people saying I am below average and I can take that criticism, but I intend to improve.

    My record:
    GCSEs (Maths : B) 3A*s , 3A's , 4B's
A-Level ABBBB (Inc General Studies, not inc. Maths) (I did have serious health issues before my A Levels but I won't mention this in CV's because tbh I have come to learn that people snort upon stuff like that, but hey that is life)
Law at a Russell Group Uni (Newcastle): First year undergraduate: 3rd, 3rd, 2.1, 2.1 (2.2 overall)
    Second year undergraduate: 1st, 2.1, 2.1, 2.1 (2.1 overall)
Third year undergraduate: Results pending (Aiming for a first)

I am just sick of snotty people being able to take shots at my record, yes, fair enough it is justified criticism. But, I intend to get a first. People ****ing asking for my grades in my class too, asking what scores i get etc. It's just ****ing annoying and I intend to get a score so high that no one can feel superior.

I may have a prestigious degree but overall I feel it is nullified because of my grades and I feel like I'm getting criticised at every interview I go to because of a few grades in first year (they bring it up).

Just really ****ing annoyed and i feel kicked down by it all, but **** it, because i will improve. And I can strop if i want, the only reason employers can criticise me is because they have the money to be able to do so, because i am applying for a **** paid job along with all the other graduates paying for the same **** paid jobs. But if i am to prove myself in this world, i'm going to start thinking outside the box and be prepared to fail. But I will succeed eventually.

No offence - but then why continue to post your academic record on a student forum?

Feel exactly where you're at. But I think it's fine. The fact is you've been through so much "failure" (as others say you have, personally I think you're doing alright!), that you can no longer take it. You can come out stronger than those who haven't done as "bad" as you have because you know what it's like and never want to go through it again!

Because , ultimately, I want the truth of where I stand in terms of achievement. Since this forum is full of people who are achieving well and have the arrogance to match it, these are the people worth targetting for the types of people that look at C.V.'s. There is a correlation, undeniably.

My pride may get hurt for now, but it is important I know where I am , because otherwise, I will continue being average.

Basically, I needed a target because otherwise I would have no direction and these people would be pushing even further ahead, indeed, if they are better.

    Re: My academic record
I don't understand the point in this to actually help you. You either want people to say 'you'll do great, nice academic record, nothing to worry about' or the opposite...people's opinions aren't going to get you a job. This thread could have a milluion replies of saying your academic record is good or bad and although it might give you a morale boost it won't actually...help you get a job.

Why not ask the people that matter, the careers service at your university? Or look around for jobs in the time being to see who's recruiting? Find out the right companies that would suit you? Or work on how to make your CV look impressive? Or work on interview technique? Something productive, as bitching about how bad the job market is won't help you. Yes, you're right but if you do end up with a 2.1 the impression I get is that you'll think 'oh the job market is against me, there's no point even trying'.

Also, your point about no-one cares about where a degree is from or what it is doesn't matter anymore is ridiculous. Law is one of the most prestigious subjects to study and to get a 2.1 at the very least in Law from a Russell Group uni won't GUARANTEE you a job but will at least make you a promising candidate. You mentioned about how there are people from oxbridge/RG uni's jobless - there are a number of contributory factors, such as a poor interview, having the social skills of a brick wall or only aiming for jobs where you get hundreds of people going for just one place. Conversely, my cousin has a 2.2 from Gloucestershire uni (Law) and is working for Aviva in a £30k a year job. It's a business role, not a legal role however she did say that once she had the job they mentioned that her having a Law degree impressed them.

Stop being so damned insecure and get on with your life. You're over 20 now, you're just wasting your time worrying about what other people think of you.

His thread history is best read with Leonard Cohen on sipping a whisky and thinking about the woman that left you.

    Edited highlights:

2nd year Law student application woe. Demoralised
Songs that make you feel uncontrollably ****.
Are any other law students ****ting themselves?
Support group thread: "Basically, I am pretty screwed after I graduate. Anyone else?"

Also one thread on becoming a trainee stockbroker and another on becoming a fitness model (!).

OP, if you spent less time wailing and gnashing your teeth then maybe you'd find more success?

And? I am depressed so what? It doesn't really matter, none of it does apart from the amount of money you have. It is all about the money for me , and I don't have it at the moment so I am depressed.

At the end of the day, reputation is all that matters to me. Money, achievement, these are the only things that are worth anything to me in this life.

You may have your family, a sex life, a good health record, satisfaction with where you're heading in life... I have none of this. It makes me very angry and pissed off with society in general, but wouldn't you be pissed off?

I need to succeed otherwise I would rather be dead than average.

This isn't the way to go. I've been like this for so long that I can't even remember. The problem lies in the fact that you seek happiness from status and riches, but when you get said status and said riches, you won't feel that great about it.

To prove my point, just sit there and think about how you feel when you get your results. If you get your first, really sit there and think about whether that's made you happy. It'll be short lived. The same goes with money, status, everything. Why do celebs take drugs? Same reason.

Don't say I didn't warn you. If you keep on like this, all you'll do is end up depressed and alone. That, my friend, is definitely the definition of failure.

Exactly. Also, I don't really see what the point of this post is. Either it's to attract criticism or to boast...
