    Using animals in vet interviews
Apparently animals are used in the interviews I think it's Nottingham that does it. I am just wondering what past experiences people have had etc. What will you probably be asked to do?

Knowing my luck I'll probably get something like this:

If nottingham do use dogs, they wouldn't ask you to do anything with them.

I'm pretty sure that on the Nottingham open day they said that in some of their interviews they used live animals but then another university told me that they always used live animals and they did not in my interview xD My universities officer went to a lecture/meeting thing at Nottingham to discuss preparing students for university interviews and she told me that Nottingham said that sometimes they used live animals in their interviews. Hope that helps

I had an interview at Nottingham (over 3 years ago so this isn't especially up to date info lol) and they had a dog in each interview room (for the 2 on 1 standard chat interviews - not the practical ones), but they didn't ask me to do anything. They just introduced themselves and then said the dog's name and that was it. To be fair it was at the end of the day so the dog was bored stiff and fell asleep half way through. I heard a rumour that the interviewers like it if you can say 'hello boy' or 'hello girl' and be able to tell the sex of the dog but that may be rubbish. Also heard a story that one interviewee sat down, the dog jumped on his lap and he yelled at the dog and got rejected. I think you just need to behave responsibly and sensibly around the dog but not get too into cuddling it.

I had an interview at Nottingham this year and they had a dog in the interview room and they did ask me to do something with it! I won't say anything because it's against their rules but trust me it's nothing you have to think about!

I think I might be applying to Nottingham as a student starting in 2014 - I've never heard anyone say about them using dogs in the interview but then again I might be a bit calmer... Then all the attention can be divided between me and the dog hahaha xx

Yeah there was a dog in my notts interview. They opened the door for me to go in and the dog ran out at 100mph. I think it was bored haha

Awkward start to an interview anyway

There was a dog at my Nottingham interview last year. I wasn't asked to do anything with it though - it just sat by my chair! On the day they gave everyone a document with all the profiles of the interview dogs.

    Yes dogs are used

Well on mine anyway I had a beautiful Field Spaniel. I was asked to do stuff with him: basic exam of him and questions about the dogs health I'm not allowed to give any specifics though

Yeah they do, but as long as you can pat it on the head and say 'good boy' convincingly, you'll be fine.

hahaha christ, I remember the dog in my Notts interview. We had half an hour solid of it barking and messing about and then we get to the point where he asked me to examine it or something and the little sod ran off under the desk!! talk about stressful!!
