3 on top 0.5 on the side and ask for a fade and a shape up.

Classic short back and sides is well a classic which suits most face shapes. Get like a number 2 or 3 on the sides, keep some length at the top (maybe like 1 to 2 inches) and up to you how you want the fringe.
Play about with the length, you might prefer even longer hair on the top.

What do you suggest for the fringe?

I think a long fringe, up to eyebrows is good length because you can sweep it to a side or try pushing it back (a good way to get your fringe used to be pushed to a direction is when its damp from the shower, use a hairdryer and brush your hair to the direction whilst it dries)
