Great idea, where to start?
Hello!
Let's say I've got a brilliant business idea, which I know it will be huge success. It's also unique. The only problem is, it will costs really a lot. And I'm guessing it could be counted in milions. It involves Television and advertisement on tv. Due to high costs I'd like to give my business idea in exchange for x% shares.
Is it possible, and how hard could that be? Where should I start? Thanks for help in advance! -
Re: Great idea, where to start?
I guess you are a student, which will make it almost impossible to get investors. Investors want security in their money, as a student, you probably don't have much experience in the industry.
Your best bet is to scale your idea down and start small, then build it big.
If not, try getting some funding from family members first, then prove you have the orders (or prove the business will work, ask people to put in per-orders) then approach investors. James Caan has a book 'How to start your business in Seven Days' which you may find interesting.
Also, you'd be surprised that TV advertising doesn't cost all that much. I think you can run an ad on a less popular channel for £X,xxx or something (Also, ad agencies will have cheaper slots).
If all else fails, get a team together. All put in a certain amount of money. Make sure you all have experience and knowledge within the different sectors you would be dealing with.
You need to be very committed to getting this idea off the floor.
