Re: Is this a lot or not much for weekend work?Tbh Ive not even analysed it all as much as you lol. All I know is that mon - fri is £7 an hour, saturdays about £70 and sundays £90 ph. Saturdays are paid 44% extra and sundays 88% extra. Its NHS pay, band 2. I dont know what students get several people my age in their 20's earn more than me.(Original post by Tycho)
So you are getting a weekend premium rate, and a pretty good one if weekdays would only earn you £7/hr. Your weekend premium is around the 50% mark, which is far more than I've ever heard of. Most night-shift or Sunday premiums max at 33%. I suspect that either a) you've got your sums wrong, or b) you've been given the wrong information.
It all sounds a bit strange to be honest. Most weekend-only jobs don't entitle you to premium rates because the premium rates are for the guys who are working full-time hours with some of their shifts at the weekends. Perhaps I'm being a little cynical, but this topic smells more like you trying to brag about what you earn than anything else. You're bound to know that this is quite a decent rate of pay for a student's weekend work, surely! -
Re: Is this a lot or not much for weekend work?£13 per hour... what are you cleaning - the blood from people's open heart surgery?(Original post by Shelly_x)
Yes it is a lot. NHS usually pay pretty well, I work as a cleaner in a hospital and get £350 a month for 6 hours a week.

Re: Is this a lot or not much for weekend work? These are some pretty generous premiums. You know what though, I was in a hospital yesterday and you couldn't pay me enough to work there. Hate them.(Original post by almosttrue)

Re: Is this a lot or not much for weekend work?It depends some weekends are quiet others you are fairly busy, Im a nursing student too during the week so it can take up too much time but when im on placement I try not to work many weekends.(Original post by Palatial Veranda)
Depends what you do. If you're whoring yourself out for 7 and a half hours each day of the weekend then it's not that good but as a temporary nurses assistant I would see that's pretty good pennyage. -
Re: Is this a lot or not much for weekend work?Assist nurses.(Original post by . . .)
