thats really cheap actually, but I've never head of a 400watt version from corsair, the lowest i've heard 430...
6850 might struggle on that wattage

I have dual monitor. Both 1920 x 1080. My budget is £250 minus the £87 for the CPU. What graphics card would you recommend?

I play CoD, Total War Shogun 2, Max Payne, Skyrim and a lot of MMORPGs.
For 2 monitors I'd definitely say go AMD, they always seem to cope better at the higher resolutions (3840x1080 in your case), I'm not really up to scratch with the graphics card market at the moment, but maybe if you could stretch the extra £15 a 7850? It's basically the newer version of what Iqbal suggested before. As I say probably best to leave this question to someone else though

So I want to upgrade my processor on my PC and have done some research.

Currently, I have an AMD Sempron 145 processor (single core) on a 64bit PC.

I was thinking about upgrading it to an AMD Phenom II x4 965 (quad core)

    Here are my questions:

    1. Would I be able to do the upgrade? 2. Will I need to configure anything new if i do upgrade?
    3. Are there any better alternative Processors?

My budget is £200 and i'm a hardcore pc gamer.

    Thanks in advance!! ^^
The X4 965 is a decent processor, and not too costly, only around £80. However, there are processors around that are far newer, faster and more efficient. Take a look at Intel's latest offerings, or take a glance at the i5 2500k. These are much more costly (£160) and would need a new motherboard. So unless you want the best, stick to the AMD Phenom series.

if i stick with the 400w, what GPU would you recommend?

500 Watt or greater power supply recommended.......thats from the AMD site.........so i'm not sure, cos some people can get it working, so you might be able to.

Oh ok~ if i do get the 6850 then i might as well play it safe and get a higher wattage PSU.

Personally I'd say you can probably get away with 400W, going by this website I had a rough guess at what you would have and even with a 6850 it recommended around 330W... Then again I played it safe and went way overkill with my PSU so I can understand why you would...

That's what I did...................yeah I have seen other users on here get away less than the recommended, so it should be finish.

Plus for £20 that psu is a bargain, seems dodgy, but 50watt should do with a certification just to be sure it's efficient.

Most companies overstate their PSU wattage but some like Seasonic and Corsair understate it quite a bit. Plus the good PSUs (like yours) have more on the 12V rail and less on the 5V. I would guess your PSU would be fine but if you wanted to upgrade anything else except a hard drive or something small, you'd be cutting it too close.

Haha i think i'll play it safe instead. That way its better in the long run if i decide to upgrade again in the future.

Don't think they'll play max out on a hd screen....more likely to get high settings on hd...if its quite graphic intense and it'll be loud with the fan on 100%

    That's alright. I don't mind.

So i was checking up how to replace a GPU and stuff and it says that some people require you to re-activate windows.

If i need to re-activate, would i need the activation key I used when i originally got my computer?
I'm asking because I don't have the Activation key anymore. I either lost it or misplaced it a few years ago

GPU is pretty simple, replace the old gpu where it is, 6850 doesnt need any extra power support.
Load the system, get rid of the software and drivers of the old gpu and download the latest drivers for the new one from the manufacturer..........this stops any confliction with the old gpu drivers and makes sure its up to date and compatible.

CPU is the issue, i'm guessing you need to make sure that your motherboard bios is up to date to stop any compatibility issues.

And you don't as far as I'm aware, the only time I recall this is when you get a new motherboard, which sometimes causes issues with the old hard drive with the installed windows, thats when you need to re-install it.

By the way, will i need anything extra for the fact that im upgrading from a single core to a quad core?
