Re: Exercising through Ramadan
It will be very difficult to do during the fast. You could do it near the end eg. the fast ends at 9.20pm so you start your workout an hour before, go home then eat as normal. Weights during a fast could cause blackouts. I used to play football without any major problems but thirst is the main factor.
Personally, I might hit the gym a couple of times a week around midnight and try to make use of my pull up bar and other general bodyweight exercises before bed. I'll see how it goes but it will be primarily about damage limitation.Last edited by silent ninja; 14-07-2012 at 23:50. -
Re: Exercising through Ramadan
Maybe do something light (walking, a bit light weights) just before you break your fast, like 20 mins before?, than take a shower and be fresh to make du'a at that special moment when you break the fast & go to the mosque.
Take the bike to the mosque n back?
A bit of tai chi? -
Re: Exercising through RamadanHmmm.. Spose I could do some thing around then(Original post by silent ninja)

Re: Exercising through RamadanI drive so it's no problem. I'm being optimistic, I probably won't wanna leave the comfort of my home and the lovely food at that time lol(Original post by de_monies)

Yeah, I don't really trust my town after like 11pm

Re: Exercising through RamadanIt depends, it depends on people, I coped playing basketball for around 2 hours with mates, like a proper game, but thats when we play in the evening and i do certain things to stop wasting too much energy.(Original post by de_monies)
Just wondering what you'd recommend to do. Of course we're not allowed water, so nothing strenuous ie: definitely nothing that requires you to reach for water
I was thinking of doing some light weights, and some gentle strolls? - bearing in mind that it's a 17 hour fastLast edited by Iqbal007; 15-07-2012 at 00:12. -
Re: Exercising through RamadanI made a comment about not trusting my town above. Yeah, Ill be going for tarawih(Original post by Purehakkai)
You could try going after tarawih and getting back in time for sehri? Personally I'm going to go the gym after I break fast.
edit: That is if you're planning on attending tarawih -
Re: Exercising through RamadanWell then couldn't you get someone to drop you off at the gym after and then come pick you up after a few hours?(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Exercising through RamadanNot really. I might be able to, but it's an inconvenience for other people, and I don't want to use people as taxi services(Original post by Purehakkai)

Re: Exercising through RamadanWell couldn't you try getting a lift with people going home after tarawih? There's not much else you can do unless you want to work out while fasting or wait until Ramadan is over(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Exercising through RamadanNot really. The mosque is walking distance(Original post by Purehakkai)

Re: Exercising through RamadanSo you are alright walking to the mosque but not to the gym? I'm sorry there's nothing else I can suggest(Original post by de_monies)
Not really. The mosque is walking distance -
Re: Exercising through RamadanYes. The Mosque is like 5 minutes away. The gym is more like 20 minutes away, and generally once I've had any form of workout, my mind is more well absent minded and I generally don't pay attention to things as much, until I've rested for a while(Original post by Purehakkai)

Re: Exercising through Ramadan
I'd say after iftari and before sehri just find some time to try your light weights or maybe just stick to pressups/situps/squats etc nothing too much orr you could go for a jog before sehri just make sure that you eat right though so you'll have enough energy to get through your fast
Also Ramadan Mubarak you -
Re: Exercising through RamadanI'm going to be honest about this but does anyone else enjoy that moment you go into sajdah and get to give your feet that respite they need after standiing in one position for like 5 minutes.?

OP I think the best thing we can do is a maybe two hours before sehri do these:
