    taking acoustic guitar on airplane
hi, i'm going to travel to the UK for university in september, and i want to bring my acoustic guitar with me.. i was wondering if anyone who has travelled with emirates before knows if i can bring it into the plane as hand luggage in a soft case, or not? i do not want to check it in, even though it would be in a hard case in such a situation, but if it is my only choice, then i might consider it..

I have diffinately seen people with instruments on planes before, though they might have been small ones like violins.

Ring the airline and see. However I'd say it is probably unlikely since it is outside their hand luggage dimentions.

Most airlines have specific policy on bringing guitars, it should say on their website. One of the major airlines (I forget which) says you can bring an instrument as hand luggage as long at is "no larger than a guitar".
There's also a special kind of check in where you can have it treated the same way as a pram or a caged animal and handled more gently than other luggage in the hold.
This song should keep you nice and nervous about flying with guitars.
