London Student Accommodations
Hey people,
So I am starting my Undergraduate course in September and now looking for a student accommodation, the university I will be going to is london metropolitan university. The only really good one I have found is this,
http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/accommodation/halls-of-residence/$-apt-student-living.cfm
Cost around under £220 and would like my own studio room, having everything to yourself just sounds good.
If anybody can post links to other good Accommodations that will be good.
Thanks! -

My names Frankie I work for UNITE, a student accommodation provider.
I'm here to give help and advice to TSR users with accommodation through UNITE whilst they are at University.
I noticed your post and thought a response might be helpful as we have several properties in London, are you going to be based at the City campus or North campus of London Met?
We've currently got Studio's available from £245, or Ensuite rooms from £155, both in really central locations.
Hope this helps.

Re: London Student Accommodations
My advice is look for accomadation from everyone other than UNITE. I have registered just to warn you that UNITE's sole purpose is to charge students excessively. My ten week rent with them in London costs nearly £3,000. Also when I asked them how they cater for people with dissabilities they said they have a security person who helps with lost keys, BRILLIANT just what I needed. Also the quality of my room is poor and I have trouble sleeping it is not a nice place to be living. It is a living hell and it was only for 10 weeks I feel sorry for the people staying there for the whole year. The only reason why I chose UNITE was because I was desperate and needed accomadation at the last minute it had nothing to do with the sales people they are rubbish. Also most of the time the staff at reception look bored and do not solve people's issues and most of the time leave early.

that's seriously expensive unless you got a private room or apartment or something -

Thanks for your message; we’ve got two properties that are in a great location for the three campuses you mentioned.
Our Great Suffolk Street halls are 3.30miles from South Kensington, 0.39miles from Waterloo Campus and 0.78miles from Strand Campus.
Our halls at Woburn Place are 2.69miles from South Kensington, 1.43miles from Waterloo Campus and 1.06miles from Strand Campus.
We take group bookings so could allocate all three of you rooms in a flat together, the easiest way to do this is over the phone on our free phone number 0800 783 4213. They will be able to give you price information too.
If you need any more info just send me a message on here, or it might be useful to look at the Student Accommodation zone – just click the Student Housing tab at the top of the page, you’ll find lots of info on private renting there.
Hope this helps

I’m sorry to hear about your experience, I’d be interested to hear which UNITE property you were staying in?
We appreciate rent in London can be high, which is why we make sure we include as much as we can in the overall price (i.e. utility bills, internet, security etc.), whilst making sure it’s competitive with the market average.
As you mentioned you stayed for 10 weeks, I assume you were on a short term let; this can work out slightly more expensive than a longer contract. As Gumball mentioned “a 1 bed flat in zone 2 for <£220 per week” which I expect is a 3-12month contract, exclusive of bills. Yet a 10 week stay in a UNITE property still works out much cheaper than the equivalent stay in most hotels.
We’re sorry UNITE accommodation wasn’t your first choice and appreciate it may not suit everyone; we have a number of properties throughout London, in a number of different locations and these properties do vary.
With regards to customer with disabilities, I apologise if you have been misinformed, UNITE has a clear disability policy. We offer accessible rooms to cater for customers with individual needs, you can find out more about these facilities here http://www.unite-students.com/unite-...ble+Rooms.page, or by calling our free phone number 0800 783 4213.
If there is anything you’d like me to look in to you can send me a message on here.

Re: London Student Accommodations
Well I am living in East Central House (had no choice which property to live in). Also I calculated if I lived in the hotel where I was staying at near London Bridge it would have been £17 more expensive but it was far better quality. The problem is that it so tacky considering how much it costs plus most people living there have nothing to do therefore they think it is appropiate to knock on peoples doors at 00:30 (they knocked on mine as a mistake ) and today making loud noises at 4am when some people like myself have to go to work. Also because of people smoking in fire evacuation places it is far safer for me to ignore the fire alarms (which is something I would never have said before) because they go off for no reason. Also the receptionists most times I come back from work aren't there even though it says they are there until 8pm. Also from the sounds of it it provides assistance for people with physical dissabiltiies becuase it is very easy to provide for them because you can see it, my dissabilities are mental therefore it is virtually impossible to be cartered for (by everyone not just UNITE).

Hi bp2,
Thanks for taking the time to provide me with some more information.
It sounds like it would be useful for you to speak directly to a member of the team at East Central House regarding the situation.
We try to deal with situations on a case by case basis where possible, and want to ensure you have the opportunity to talk through any issues. If you give them a call on 0207 250 1083 and leave a message containing your contact details then a member of the city team will give you a call back and arrange a chat. They are also available at reception 8am-8pm Mon-Fri and 12pm-8pm on weekends, but sometimes have to pop out to do a flat inspection or help another student.
We also have good relationships with university welfare and accommodation offices. If you haven’t spoken to your university’s welfare team already then it might be helpful for you to get in touch with them as they are able to provide additional advice and support. They can also provide specialist guidance for students with disabilities.
I hope this helps,

Wow they are very high prices, if it was per month than that would be great but per week!
Hi ShaunW500,
I appreciate London rents can appear high, keep in mind these prices are based on the cost of a private Studio flat, we have accommodation from £155 per week for our basic ensuite rooms in central London.
As I mentioned above it would also be inclusive of all your utility bills, internet connection and contents insurance.
I hope this helps,
Frankie -
Re: London Student AccommodationsEnsuite rooms, is this shared with other students, because I would like to have my own flat basically. Also are these the cheapest you can do.(Original post by UNITE Student Accommodation)

Ensuite rooms, is this shared with other students, because I would like to have my own flat basically. Also are these the cheapest you can do.
The best value accommodation we offer in London is North Lodge (£155pw). In an ensuite room you would have your own bedroom, with an ensuite bathroom to yourself, and you would share the communal areas i.e. the kitchen and living room with others (between 4-9 people per flat).
We offer studio flats in most of our properties, which would give you your own flat within the property, you pay a little more per week for these but have a completely private space.
Have you had a look at our YouTube channel? The videos should give you an idea of the difference in room size, types and layouts across the different properties - http://www.youtube.com/UNITEstudentliving
I hope this helps,

Re: London Student Accommodations
I would like to say one thing I don't actually go to a university in London my university accomadation is a third of your price and is a much better quality than your accomadation. I am actually interning in London and lets just say I am working in a reputable firm and the rent is nearly half of my wages (how uni students are meant to cope I have no idea) and you go on about things being expensive in London yet plently of people who go to my uni got much cheaper rented accomadation near Canary Wharf.
