Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?
During my first lesson I stalled spectacularly at a junction in a village. The window was down and an old lady went out of her way to go to me and shout "HA" right in my face.
After I got over it, everything else from then on was water off a duck's back.... -

Not embarrassed one bit, but I deliberately stalled to miss the green at some traffic lights so I could keep looking at a girl at a cash machine whose very short summer dress was blowing up and exposing her bum in a thong.

I was a learner, anyway I was at a junction and I had the wrong kind of shoes for driving, so I couldn't push the accelerator properly so I ended up pushing too hard and it revved up so loudly that everyone was looking. THEN the car stalled and I couldn't properly lift up the clutch quickly enough again to move because of my shoes...so embarrassing.

Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?
My mum stalled twice on the same road a few weeks ago.
Spoiler:ShowShe's had a licence for probably 20 yearsSpoiler:Showto be fair it was a long road and she hadn't driven a manual for a while
She also has a habit of stalling whenever anyone is kind enough to let her out of a turning etc. Which gets awkward, cos then they're waiting ages for her to restart the car

Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?
There are some steep hills around here, and at the top of one of the hills there was some road works with some temporary traffic lights. I stopped as the light was red and waited for them to turn green. I stalled, twice and the lights went red for ages, probably thinking there wasn't any traffic (there was a huge queue by this point). They went green again, I stalled, but thankfully managed to pull off, but only me and the car behind got through

Moral of the story is practice your hill starts in less busy circumstances, the pressure didn't help at all! -
Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?Maximum trolling.(Original post by Cherriesxo)
I was doing roundabouts for the first time. I was trying to decide whether to go for approximately 45 seconds. When I felt I was ready to go, and moved off, my instructor put on the brakes and I stalled.
One time, I had just set off from my street; I'd turned around the corner, and stopped at a small set of lights. There were almost a dozen chavs sat on a garden wall, some drinking, other smoking, though assuredly, they were all being ****ers. When the light went green, I went forward a metre or so, then stalled, stopping dead, and holding up a few cars. The piss-taking from the group was absolutely devastating.
What makes it worse, is the fact that I had to endure their bonhomie for about a minute or so, until the lights turned green again (only two cars get through at a time, and because I stalled, I had missed my chance entirely). -
Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?Diagonally across 4 lanes? Either youre chatting a load of bull **** or you were driving a HGV(Original post by laura1234)
getting onto a very busy 4 lane roundabout, and I happened to stall diagonally inbetween all 4 of the lanes. I got a lot of evils. -
Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?
I'm still a learner but I think the most embarrassing time for me was when I hadn't had a lesson for over a month, started driving along and stalled at some traffic lights. Tried to move off, stalled again. Got extremely flustered and tried to move off again and stalled again. Someone behind me beeped, I then stalled again. This was like right in the middle of town as well. The shame.

Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?Just joining a 4 lane roundabout and trying to get to the furthest lane means having to cut across all 4 of them... so yes it is possible to stall right in the middle of them(Original post by College_Dropout)

Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving?3 times in a row next to a Learner driver whilst my filter light was on in Kilwinning
It was on a hill though and I had only just passed! Didn't stop the learners instructor laughing!

Re: tell me one of your most embarrassing stalling story when driving? The minimum lane width is 2.5m, i take it you are driving nothing bigger than a BMW 3 series which is 4.5m long, you would struggle to cover just 2 lanes let alone 4. Baring in mind you probable drive something much smaller and that is the minimum lane size.(Original post by laura1234)

I was in the car with my driving instructor and we were at the traffic lights just before the entrance to my school at the time, I noticed 2 boys I knew and stalled whilst trying to act cool and wave. They laughed and pointed and I got told off for getting distracted
