Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following Unis
In your opinion, whether it be from research, word of mouth, or visiting, which of the following has the nicest setting/campus and why? Or, alternatively, what is your impression of any of the following campuses? Just trying to get some general opinions!
Thank you
University of Bath, University of Bristol, University of Leeds, Lancaster University, University of Warwick, University of Sheffield. -
Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following UnisQuite a few of Bristol's buildings (e.g. HH Wills Physics Building) are concrete monstrosities, but they also have the Wills Memorial Building, which is quite nice.(Original post by cestca)

Leeds has quite a nice campus, from memory, with lots of different styles of architecture.
TBH you stop worrying about / noticing what your surroundings look like fairly quickly anyway, so I'm not sure why you're too bothered. -

But when I visited Warwick, the campus was lovely - very green and leafy and pretty.
Not sure about the others though.
I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a nice campus - when I was looking around unis, I looked at what I thought of the campus and stuff, and I felt more comfortable in ones I thought were green and leafy and pretty. I still adore the view from the hill at my uni, so I'm not sure you always stop noticing it. -

Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following Unisfrom people that i know and heard this is why it's been considered "boring" in terms of events and night life during the week (if the OP is interested in these factors that is). leeds, sheff, bristol would be better as they all offer good combinations of being respectable institutions, great student unions, and from what i've heard - a guaranteed quality night/social life (although it is what you personally make of it during those 3-4 years that is). however if OP couldn't give a rat's ass about these factors then choose Warwick, not saying that Warwick is bad or anything at all.(Original post by DontBeJelBeReem)
In terms of campus, i'd say Warwick is the best example of a campus university, partly due to its isolation somewhere in the midlands

Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following Unishaha no trust me, i am a raver, and i wouldn't want to be going to Warwick if the night life was dead. Its only 10 mins from Cov aswell but has a club on campus. Not the biggest choice of nightlife but i guess it means everyone is in one place(Original post by thelawstudent)

Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following UnisMay not be useful but I've only seen Bath (went there for an interview) and it was absolutely beautiful (the city) with the river passing through. IT was a foggy day too which made the scenery even more spectacular. The campus is good too.(Original post by cestca)

Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following Unis
Personally I didn't really like Sheffield when I went to visit, but that was about 3/4 years ago, so it might have changed a bit.
Bath is quite nice, bit concrete-y, but also quite green. The SU bar smelled of chunder though which wasn't pleasant.
I'm at Bristol and it's in a really nice area and the buildings are all quite nice; although, as someone mentioned, there are some big concrete monstrosities like the physics building and the library, but there are also some really nice buildings like the Wills Memorial (law and earth sciences), archeology building and the biology building and some nice fairly new, modern-ish buildings like the chemistry and engineering buildings. If you want to know anything about Bristol, feel free to message me. -
Re: Your Opinion: Best Setting/Campus of the Following Unis
Of the ones I've seen, Leeds (city) is very nice, and Lancaster (campus) is too, even if they do have suicide tower. I personally was ambivalent to negative on warwick so much so that I rejected my offer but that was primarily because of its location - the campus is fine if a bit isolated. I should hasten to add that, unlike other posters, I attend none of the above universities.
Thank you
