Work experience in Solicitor's office
So tomorrow morning I start a week's placement in one which specialises in criminal law.
It says on my sheet I'll be doing 3 things:
Admin duties.
Watching court cases if neccesary.
Observing meetings.
Do you think it'll be good for a law PS? Anyone else done it before? -
Re: Work experience in Solicitor's office
Congratulations on getting your work experience placement; I hope you're enjoying it so far.
Any experience is good to have on your cv, so enjoy the opportunity and make a note of anything you find especially interesting in case you're ever asked in an interview.
Is criminal law what you're interested in? -
Re: Work experience in Solicitor's office
well done on your work exp
but to be honest and blunt.. it doesn't really matter as i doubt you'll be able to learn much from activities, such as admin/watching in court/observing meetings, about the inner workings of the law and how it is applied and interacted with different clients' needs etc. i did absolutely no work exp prior to applying to law at uni and still got accepted in top RG unis, though i am in no way saying that work exp is bad at all, it's just how you word it in a persuasive manner in your personal statement

Re: Work experience in Solicitor's officeThanks. To be honest the guy I'm with is a teacher so he hasn't given me any admin work but in our free time away from courts etc he has been teaching me about it.(Original post by thelawstudent)

Yes. I'd love to start up a solicitors practice in my local village.(Original post by Bambilicious)
