Distance-Learning MBAs UK and US?
As the title suggests I'm looking to apply for a distance learning MBA mainly due to the fact I really can't afford/commit to a full-time residential MBA.
I've been searching the net for decent distance-learning programmes either from UK or US universities.
So far the one's that appeal to me are;
- Durham
- Warwick
- Imperial
And in the US the only one I've looked at so far is UNC-Chapel Hill.
I was under the impression Cornell offered a distance-learning MBA but it seems this is only the EMBA and you need to be a US/Canadian resident (unless anyone knows differently?)
Basically I need some advice on good distance-learning programmes etc. On paper the one which stands out in terms of prestige etc is Imperial but scanning MBA forums online I've heard negative views about the course and that the support given to students by Imperial is really poor.
Durham stands out for me because the course has triple accreditation, you're part of a collegiate system (even if you are at a distance) and Durham is generally a good university at national level and ranks inside the top 50 or so business schools worldwide I think? Also with it now joining the Russell Group it'll attract even more research funding meaning it's profile in the world rankings will increase and reflect its standing and prestige in the UK. Durham's course just seems really cool.
I've always known Warwick to be a good business type university so I have no doubt their MBA programme would be a good investment.
I haven't looked into the US options much but UNC-Chapel stood out. And I'm trying to gather more information on the supposed Cornell programme. I guess with Cornell being an Ivy League university, that's a big attraction for me. Sure I won't physically be present at the university except for the compulsory residential summer schools etc but nevertheless it'd still be great to be a part of the student community/culture.
So can anyone give some advice about the distance-learning mba programmes and what would be a good choice etc and why?
Thanks.
K.
