    Maths or NatSci?
For anyone who was in the position of deciding between Mathematics or Natural Science, why did you choose one over the other? And do you think you made the right choice?

I applied everywhere else for Maths/Physics joint, and in the end applied for Natsci at Cambridge, mainly because I liked the idea of doing several subjects in first year, but also partly because I got scared by STEP.

Did I make the right choice? Not really, I switched to maths after my first year of NatSci, and have just finished first year maths. On the other hand I *did* quite enjoy the first year of natsci, I just knew I'd rather be doing maths.

Weren't you fortunate that you eluded the manacles of STEP?

Yep, had to go back to first year. I probably enjoyed maths more, just because I found it more interesting than the previous year. Part of it may also just have been that I was more used to Cambridge in general, as well.

Unfortunately for me, I ended up sitting it anyway - I'm not sure how common it is for colleges to want you to do that, however.

Chose NatSci - maths is too difficult!

I figured that maths would allow me to go into maths or theoretical physics but natsci wouldn't as you don't do analysis/groups. I chose maths.

If your main attraction to NatSci is the physics then you could always look into the Maths with Physics option.
