Keele Uni: What will I need to bring with me?
This has probably been asked lots of times before, but basically, what do I need to bring?
I know on the website it tells you what is provided and what you cant bring, but I'm so worried I'll think I have everything I need only to find out at the last minute I've forgotten something painfully obvious that I didn't think of!
So, for people who have studied at Keele and stayed in the Halls (I've put the simple room w/ wasbasin as my preference) what did you take with you, and was there anything you forgot that you found you needed?
Also, is there anything that you took and found that you never used?
(My mother is going crazy over finding me kitchen supplies, I keep telling her I'm not going to use a melon baller...)
Anybody have a simple list of things to take? Or a link to one somewhere?
Thanks guys! -

3 out of the 4 us turned up with toasters...
Don't stress too much over it. If you forget something and you desperatly need it and no one else has one you can borrow/steal/beg, there are shops in Newcastle/Stoke/Hanley. Otherwise, just retrieve it on your next visit home. But for things like toasters, I'd wait and see if you need to go out and buy it.
I recommend bringing a doorstopper, a mini fridge (and someway to hide it) and earplugs. -

The kind of thing I'm mainly wondering about, because none of this is really made clear on the website, will I need to bring things like a desk-chair and a lamp, or noticeboards and such? I know it says the rooms are furnished but it doesn't say to what extent
And like, would I need an ethernet cable or is there wifi in the halls? That kind of thing really.

Re: Keele Uni: What will I need to bring with me?
It is all common sense to be honest.
Bring clothes, grooming products, favourite technology...
You should probably bring a few days worth of food; quick cooking food to be honest. In the first few days, you will want easy access food because you will be busy doing stuff; like hanging with block mates, exploring Keele etc.
Bring boots with you - exploring Keele woods is a MUST! -
Re: Keele Uni: What will I need to bring with me?
I had the same queries when I came to keele as I want definite anwers.
but you'll need a brolly, raincoat or some sort to cope with the torrential rain jk. I would think that they'll have a list of suggested items to take with u in the induction pack. i think bringing more with u is less pain than forgetting to bring something. never heard of a melon baller LOL! I bought all my kitchen stuff from nearby morrisons. better to buy a kit so u dont have to think much
and ofcourse, bring tons of snacks. u'll need it if u feel you're too lazy for grocery shopping -
Re: Keele Uni: What will I need to bring with me?There's a bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, lamp of some sort, shelves and noticeboard of some sort in all the rooms. You need an ethernet cable but they sell them at the library - just depends how long you want yours.(Original post by charllysaur)

Re: Keele Uni: What will I need to bring with me?
As a recent graduate of Keele who has just moved home with both the car's -boot, back seat and front filled with stuff, If I were you, bring the stuff that you will need personally, like clothes, toiletries, and some basic kitchen equipment as most likely, when you're block-mates arrive you'll end up with 10 of everything, which is a waste of space. Instead as you will soon find out. Go to the local Wilkinson's in Newcastle-Under-Lyme and you can pick all of this stuff quite cheap during freshers week. Don't invest in anything expensive as it most like get ruined by a someone burning something in it or by you not cleaning it up right away, instead pick some cheap items that can be replaced, when you're done with it. Get used to sharing as you'll be doing a lot of it in the blocks. Keep anything expensive in your room as it's easy to lose track of things in block full of 30 people, but it will be one of the best times of your life and you'll most likely end up living with some of these people again in your second year off campus.
Get ready to have the best three years of your life. I did
(sorry for the sappiness, but I only graduate last week...)
