    Maths at uni- Current Students
I am hoping to study maths at either imperial or ucl starting from september. I just want to know how much preparation i need to do over the summer. Will going over the a-level curriculum (maths and f.maths) be enough, or do i need to do a bit more
will you need to have refreshed your memory on the topics over the summer. hats sorts of topics is it best to practise. Any other practise such as step which will help you a lot at uni.
    thanks.

I didn't do much over the summer at all, really.

We got a reasonably long set of reasonably simple exercises, to both make sure we were at the right level and make sure we didn't slack all summer, but it didn't take very much time up.

I also probably looked at some new stuff, but didn't work at it properly, just to see what it was like. I doubt this helped that much in my first year, but it was fun enough.

A bit of Step practice will never go amiss, and should be enough to keep the maths juices flowing, though pick some fun questions, there's no point wasting time on tedious ones.

I didn't find much challenge getting back into the maths swing of things when I got to Uni, the maths itself was the straightforward bit compared to the new life, etc.

Can't speak for Imperial but I'm at UCL. You don't need to do much at all, just make sure you have a good understanding of A level concepts. Most of the material is new, so you can't prepare for it by learning to do A level stuff really well.
