Do your college keep your GCSE results certificates?
Results day is 23rd of August and my enrolment day is 24th August. I have some confusion as I read on another thread that the sixth form physically keep hold of the GCSE certificates. Ideally, I want to keep hold of them myself so I can keep going over them and just evaluate my performance in the different subjects.
So, do the college keep hold of all my GCSE certificates or am I allowed to keep them?Last edited by Magenta96; 16-07-2012 at 13:59. -
Re: Do your college keep your GCSE results certificates?
You should be given your own copy of your results on a slip produced by your school. I know my school has their own electronic copy of everyone's results, and thus there should be no need for them to keep hold of them. Basically, both you and your sixth form will have your results.
Actual GCSE certificates aren't issued until October/November time though.

Re: Do your college keep your GCSE results certificates? You get a provisional statement of results on 23 August, the certificates won't arrive in school until the end of October. It then takes a while to sort them all out and issue them -the school should tell you the plan by Results Day for how you will get them in the Autumn.(Original post by Magenta96)

I'm told that some schools keep hold of certificates for GCSEs taken before Y11 and then issue them all together, but I cannot imagine any school would keep certificates after that. You certainly have a right to get them if you want them. Schools are allowed to destroy certificates if they haven't been claimed a year after issue.
