    What knowledge?

Don't want to lead you along. Creating this kind of site would include a huge amount of knowledge you probably don't have...

Well, what are you asking: where to start?

To say that this is a sizeable project would be an understatement. You probably need to have several months clear in your diary. As such, start with jotting down an approximate specification (without reference to other sites), then use this to formulate a wireframe and some sort of timeplan.

Blimey. Jumping in at the deep end there. Moshi Monsters is probably Flash or HTML5 Canvas. Working with a member system etc.

    Give yourself a few years.

That's got to be the cutest brief for a website I've ever read.

How much web development experience do you have? To stand a chance at this project you'd probably need at least a good three years of full-time experience (and probably another year or so free to work full-time on the project itself).

I expect that you are a beginner with no concept of how ambitious this project is. It gets a little bit annoying when people trivialize a profession by thinking they can start a heavyweight commercial project with absolutely no prior experience.

If you're serious about web development, forget about this project, forget about making money and start at the beginning. If you're trying to 'get rich quick', go elsewhere.

I think it would be incredibly difficult to make a site like club penguin by yourself with no substantial experience. Plus you'd need a fair amount of money for sure.

As fran asked: what knowledge / experience do you already have? If none, start from the beginning by learning some basic web stuff online (such as on Treehouse), after which you'll have a better sense of what you need to do.

You're not paying attention. Answer the following question:

What web development experience do you have?

Unless you have significant experience you might as well be asking for instructions on how to build a spaceship - you're not going to get anywhere. My suspicion is that you have very little experience, in which case you need to forget about this idea (because it is way out of your league) and start by learning the basics.

So why don't you ask them about it? Clearly he/she is far more experienced than this forum's collective member base.

This is going no where so just to finish it: Given how you've replied to others on here, I'm guessing you don't know any web dev so the ultimate answer is : It's not going to happen, pick a new idea, something about a hundredth of the complexity.

What you're asking is the equivalent of someone who's never touched a spanner asking for instructions on how to rebuild an engine.
