    theory test next week!
I'm beginning to get nervous now my theory test is next week. I originally had it booked in March but kept changing the date due to other reasons. But now I'm at a point that if I keep changing I'll never get it done and out of the way!

I've had 12 driving lessons so far and in lessons 9-12 I've been on the main roads. I just feel like I've not done enough preparation for the theory and hazard perception test yet. I've done past questions, but I've not read all of the highway code yet (i'm on rule 190-something)..

Does anyone have any advice on how best to revise within this week, bearing in mind I can't revise all day everyday due to work and other plans i have. I feel screwed!!!

    HELP PLEASE

do lots of past tests first and then focus on only the areas in which you got questions wrong. When you get into the test you get a chance to practice the hazard perception part, use this! I think you can repeat the practice one, so that should also help.

Make sure you're calm, don't rush or stay long on a difficult question, flag it instead and then come back to it.

You'll be fine, most of the questions are common sense just remember not to overdo the clicking in hazard perception

Hi, have you used one of those hazard perception CDs? they're very good to get used to how the system works (when to click, etc..)

What I did is clicked when I saw the hazard, then waited a second or two and clicked again, just to be sure (I've heard people saying you can click too early lol) - not too often though as you get 0 points for that clip if you click too much.

Another thing is too really study each question as hard as you can. Go back through and ready EVERY question twice.

I remember one question I had, "what does this solid line mean in the picture?" and the picture had a solid line, with a dashed line next to it, and none of the answers made sense. I kept going back to it like 5-10 times, and finally I realized they meant the solid line on the left (answer: edge of the carriageway)

That's how careful you need to be. Hopefully that question comes up too

Oh, and you get about an hour I think. Use it all. I had 3 minutes left (after flagging the questions and going back through all of the ones I wasn't 100% sure about)

A lot of the questions they ask on the theory test are pretty much common sense so i wouldn't worry about it too much. I just had the highway code book, opened a random page every now and then and flicked through it for 5 minutes.

For the Hazard Perception you can buy CD's with practice examples on, where you can do mock tests, i'd get yourself one of those!

Don't panic. As above, get on of the CD's. When I was learning to drive, I used to have a driving lesson then come home and practise a theory test.

Anyway, I did pass my theory first time. It's easier that you first imagine, but don't think that. Just be calm and do not panic at all.

thanks! getting more nervous, especially because I'm failing by a few points on practice tests. Better see what I need to touch up on and stuff. How do you remember all the road signs.. so many to learn lol!

I did 4 practice tests, didn't look at the highway code and got 44/50 and 50/75 so I passed. It's not hard if you remember all the questions and click for everything that might be a hazard. I hadn't even done any hazard perception practice and still passed because to me, it's common sense really.

Just go on the DVLA website and do all the questions on there. I did that about 10 times in quick succession the night before my theory test and the questions in the actual test were pretty much all ones I had already done. I got 50/50.

I didn't even know I was going to have to do the hazard perception thing until they said on the day, and I still managed to pass it. Just common sense really, if you see a woman driving a car then click; if you see a toddler near the road then click etc... I passed that section by a few marks if I remember correctly (was 5 years ago now).

    Good luck.

its piss easy as long as you go through the CDs most of the questions come up.. you will be fine as long as you do a few days of it.. some of the questions you wont know without revising

If you have an iPod touch or iPhone, then download the official DSA app. I used that and passed easily. Don't worry about reading the highway code- it is helpful, but the app is better.

With the Hazard test, click when you see a hazard, then click a few times as it progresses then you are unlikely to miss it.

    Good luck!

(And worrying about the theory test is nothing compared to worry about the practical test! I remember when I was doing my theory and everyone else was doing their practical. Seems funny with my being on the other end now )

Well done. I bet you feel good uh?

I remember when I passed last year, as soon as I walked out the test centre some guy driving past asked "how did you do son?" And I just smiled and said "I passed"*and*before that I couldn't actually believe it, he made me realise I wasn't dreaming. Nothing could have ruined my mood that day. You would have thought I won the lottery.

I had just under 30 hours before I did my practical test (which I did today! ).

Get a good instructor and remember that there is no such thing as luck! If you can plan ahead and you are a confident driver then you will spot the idiots and will be able to deal with them

How did you go about practising the hazard perception?

I downloaded LDC Hazard Perception (google it) that helped but I got DVD as well which has more clips on it. What helped me was the mock tests on the DVD too and understanding when to click etc.
