Disabling on-board audio in BIOS
My sound card doesn't work, and for various reasons, I have been advised by my pc manufacturer to remove the sound card(they're sending a replacement tomorrow because they think it is dead). However I believe the problem is simpler and is actually caused because my on-board audio is still enabled.
The sound card gives an error which says that the "Xonar DG audio device is not plugged in". I have checked it and it seems to be seated perfectly in it's slot.
When I go into BIOS I have an option which says HD Audio Controller(Azalia Audio Device). Is this the correct option to disable?
And furthermore, when I want to save I have an option "Save and reset" - What is it resetting? The entire system? Will this affect any saved files/programs?
Sorry I'm a bit naive at this

This is probably reset as in "turns your computer off then on again".And furthermore, when I want to save I have an option "Save and reset" - What is it resetting? The entire system? Will this affect any saved files/programs? -
Re: Disabling on-board audio in BIOS
Yeah, disable that option in BIOS, and then save and reset. This will save the option to the BIOS, and reset the PC, so it will start up Windows.
It doesn't delete any files. It is simply the BIOS which is changed, and setting that setting won't have any negative impact at all.
Your sound card will probably work once sound drivers are installed though afterwards. I for one don't use onboard sound at all.Last edited by Kage; 17-07-2012 at 00:48.
