Re: Do you live your life as if you will live forever?
I'd like to live each day as if it was my last, I just don't have the money to! If today actually was my last day I have no idea what i'd do, lack of money would rule out many of the things that i'd love to do before I die
There's loads of stuff i'd like to do and places i'd like to see, unfortunately none are really within walking distance..
I'm somebody that would happily book a cheap flight to some place i've never even thought of going, with some awful airline simply because of how cheap it was, and then get by only spending money on essentials such as food/drink and accommodation. But realistically you're still going to need some money which sucksLast edited by Cll_ws; 17-07-2012 at 02:56. -
Re: Do you live your life as if you will live forever?I completely agree. I would love to be travelling the world/bungee jumping/whatever people are supposed to do before they die... but we need money! I can't get a job ANYWHERE, and have done nothing meaningful with half of my holiday, but if I really wanted to do something, I need money! I really really enjoyed my summer holiday after GCSEs two years ago volunteering at my hospital, it didn't cost anything and it felt great to be doing something positive with my time... but they cancelled the scheme due to lack of funding...(Original post by Airfairy)
This is the sort of stuff that makes me feel down about my finances. I'm the same as others, sit staring at my laptop all day, doing nothing meaningful with my long summer break. But what can you do with little money? I've handed CVs everywhere but no-one wants you when they know you are only going to be a summer temp.
It is extremely hard to live life to it's fullest without money. If anyone succeeds in doing this, tell me how.
but that's one way you can live life well with no money? Try to help others?

People waste their lives, including me although I think i might at least be a little more aware of it than most, and then cry on their deathbed for just a little bit more time to waste.
"The world is full of people who want to live forever but don't know how to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon."
“Imagine if you will being on your death bed - And standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.
And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.
And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying we came to you, and only you could have given us life! Now we must die with you forever.
The question is – if you die today what ideas, what dreams, what abilities, what talents, what gifts, would die with you? “

Why live a risk free life only to make it safely to death? -
Re: Do you live your life as if you will live forever?I was going to say something similar, but this is more eloquently put. I spend time by myself reading, procrastinating, watching Bones or Doctor Who but I enjoy doing that, even if others think it's time wasting.(Original post by bytail)
Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
I don't want to go through my life having any regrets and I want to enjoy it but even if I enjoy doing simple things, then that makes doing them still worthwhile in my opinion. -
Re: Do you live your life as if you will live forever?I think you will regret most of these small things like procrastinating on the internet in the future, or at least I think I will. You don't remember what internet sites you browsed a year ago, or the YouTube videos you liked. Also just think, you had the opportunity to access the whole world and all its possibilities, yet all you did was spend time in front of an electronic screen.(Original post by Rascacielos)

Re: Do you live your life as if you will live forever? You're rather dismissive of the computer, presumably because of all the media/parental pressure going "get off the computer, go outside!!1!". But if there wasn't something good about it, you wouldn't keep coming back.(Original post by Design_Me_A_Tom)

That 'good' may not be productive, but it leads to enjoyment. Going outside etc. also leads to enjoyment, it's just that the media/parents think that the enjoyment you get from the computer is inferior, for some 'reason' (maybe since it stops you exercising, is so addictive, etc. - none are reasons to stop it all together).
And personally, I won't regret it. I can look back and go, "what if I hadn't spent that time...". Or I could take a different approach and go, "do I understand why I did it? Did I achieve what I wanted to?". The answers to the latter go "yes, I wanted a break/fun/talk to people" and "yes, with significantly more convenience and success than could have really be done anywhere else". Sure, I may not have learnt a language or learnt xyz yet. But I have full confidence in myself to do it soon if I want to.

Its not always fun, and the intensity can be scary, take note of that. And never ever take psychodelics unless you are sure you are in a safe environment (should always be indoors) and with friends who will look out for you. -
Interesting, so do you listen to the joe rogan podcast alot?(Original post by ESPORTIVA)
