Medical help/advice needed!
Okay, I'm not sure this is in the right forum, but here goes...
Last summer my doctor told me that I would get a septoplasty (because I have a deviated septum and have difficulty breathing through my nostrils) this summer. I haven't heard anything from the doctors yet, so what should I do? Will they send me a letter exactly a year from the last appointment telling me when the operation is scheduled? Have they forgotten about me? Should I phone them? Is there still a chance I could get it done this summer? Does anyone know the protocol which hospitals use for this sort of thing in terms of arranging an operation and how long it takes?Last edited by Jimalim; 17-07-2012 at 02:29. -
Re: Medical help/advice needed!
Dear God.
No, that wasn't the start of a letter, it was a cry for help.
Why don't people take their own health into their own hands? Why haven't you already made the phone call to your GP (a person who should be familiar, trustworthy and most of all knowledgeable) to ask him the question? Why have you bothered to wait? If you haven't worked out that the health system in this country is crap and that you might need to chase it up a little, you're not very savvy.
Don't be scared to ensure you get treated. Call him and ask. If he turns his nose up at you, swap GPs. -
Re: Medical help/advice needed!
Sounds like they may have forgotten about you, wouldn't hurt to ring them to find out whats going on.
I've had septoplasty done before and think it was a couple of months from my appointment with the ENT surgeon, to when I actually got the procedure done. Obviously that could vary from hospital to hospital.
Hope you find out whats going on and get yourself sorted. -
