Re: Will my peers find out my grade at graduation? (Sheff uni)
The graduation program does tend to include the classification. Unless you explicitly choose to opt out. See this statement on how to opt out: summer http://www.shef.ac.uk/eventsteam/dataprotectionsummer , January
http://www.shef.ac.uk/eventsteam/dataprotection
Ask to see a previous years graduation program, if you are concerned. Although it is unlike, unless you are on a niche course, that you will be only one with a 2:2.
OP, you have to come to terms with your result and stop being embarrassed. Unless you are planning to lie about your result in the future, which you shouldn't. Remember in the work place there are many older graduates with a 2:2, dating back to the time when there were fewer graduates and more jobs. Employers are asking for 2:1, not because the job needs it, but to reduce the number of applicants.Last edited by edjunkie; 17-07-2012 at 07:24. -

Here is only says "Unless we are advised otherwise, the names of all graduates will appear in the printed Programme for the Ceremony"
So is that just my name? -

I assume you told your mates you got a 2:1? Might be a bit awkward.Last edited by usernonapplicable; 17-07-2012 at 14:26. -
Re: Will my peers find out my grade at graduation? (Sheff uni)All the 5 graduations I have been to have have the course, classification, any prizes followed by the nams of the people with that award. Some universities put their programme booklet online, but it appears that Sheffield don't, hence my suggestion to check last years. Some universities used to publish class lists of graduating students. Don't think they do that anymore.(Original post by usernonapplicable)

Re: Will my peers find out my grade at graduation? (Sheff uni)
My OH graduated last week, along with two of my friends. I went to all three ceremonies (being a lovely person!) and at all of them, the grade was announced.
It's also printed on your degree certificate. At one ceremony, this was given rolled up - the rest were flat and in clear wallets. Some people hid them inside their program (embarrassed at having got thirds) but it became more obvious because they tried to hide it. Once they quit hiding it and were honest and open, they seemed a lot happier!
I wouldn't try to hide it. I wouldn't lie about it either, just relax. You'll probably find people are too excited to be graduating (no one wanted to go, but all of them loved it when it was happening) to be interested in what you got. Even afterwards its about photographs and getting peoples phone numbers, rather than grades.
All the best!
