How fit do I need to be to be OK at cross country skiing?
In December I'm going to Finland and while we're there we'll be doing various activities like husky sledding and snow mobiling. However the one I'm a bit worried about is cross country skiing. I'm not massively fit and so I was just wondering how fit do you think I'll have to be to not totally fail at it. I don't wanna ruin it for anyone else by being pooped after 2 minutes.

Also, any tips for me from anyone who has done it before?

Only had a little go at it though, mostly do downhill! I think if you've never done it before you mostly have to worry about being able to keep your balance. You will probably fall down a lot
It's a serious cardio workout if you go really fast and try and push yourself, otherwise you can just kind of go at walking pace. I think if you're really worried about your fitness why not take up jogging in the run up to your holiday to improve your cardio fitness? -
Re: How fit do I need to be to be OK at cross country skiing?I probably will do just to beef it up a bit but I was worried it wouldn't be enough! Though if I spend all my time on my bum it won't really matter. :P Norway was somewhere we considered going but the part of Finland we're going to is more north so we've a better chance of seeing the lights. :3 That's really the focus of the trip. xD(Original post by Becca)
