Golf: The Open Championship betting help

I was looking at the odds for the open championship winners. It seems too good to be true, even betting on the top 7-8 favourites would result in a good profit.

Surely this can't be right? Any thoughts?

Golf Majors are extremely competitive and wildly fluctuating, so you're gonna get long odds on almost anyone. Its not a trick, its just that the odds on any one player winning is pretty unlikely.

Aye it's too unpredictable. Best shout is to bet on players to finish in the top 10. Then you'll see the odds become short. Even then its by no means a guarantee.

The Scottish Open, just gone, Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickleson and Padraig Harrington all finished outside of the top 10.

The weather at the open makes it all the more difficult as well, the leader-board often favors players who tee'd off at the calmest part of the day.

A fiver is looking tempting on Adam Scott.

I put a fiver on Adam Scott at 40/1. In my mind I'd already spent the money then I switched on the TV to see Scott throw away a 4 shot lead over the last 4 holes.

Golf is such a cruel game sometimes, I don't know how he kept on smiling for the cameras at the end, my clubs would've been thrown through the clubhouse windows before I broke down on national TV.

I normally have 3-4 bets on the majors each way - sometimes they result in a healthy win, other times pretty big losses if none of them come through. But that's part of the fun.

Can't believe the outcome of that. No one called Ernie Ells at the start of Sunday, even the coverage had pretty much ignored him until his final 2 holes. I swerved away from Scott last minute and went for G.Mac. As soon as my money was on, he did his best to rule himself out of contention.

One thing i am taking is Tiger's form. Will be putting some money on him to run away with the PGA Championship. If not im almost certain he will win the masters next year.
