Yup definitely agree, the so-called new system is just completely stupid!
I'm determined to meet you in freshers this year and remember who you are.

The government's AAB policy and the league tables probably have something to do with the "new" policy.
Not familiar with bolded but I'd agree with you about the league tables, it's a point I brought up when I had a massive rant when I found out how they changed it after my intake.

They don't use personal statements when deciding who to interview anymore? Seriously? Gosh, this just seems more and more bizarre! And no, why would she need an access programme when she had the 3 A's that most dentistry schools require!?
Only because that's now the only way to be offered a place at Barts with 3 A levels! The personal statement is used at interview but not when making invitations for interview.

Maybe it was lower for dentistry than for medicine? Who knows! All I know is that she definitely wasn't part of an access programme, and she definitely got an offer from Barts with 3 A's. And that she's following me there in September

Edit: Maybe I've just confused things by talking about dentistry on a medicine thread. Anyway, apply to Barts, its amazing!

I've just finished first year? I would assume I'm a lower year than you? I have no idea what year you're in though!

Yeah, year below. I'm going into third year. Why the question mark after the first sentence?

Well, first year summer is long enough and post-results drinking is always heavy enough I think you could probably just about justify not remembering if you'd finished first year or not.

Hi can anyone please advice me, I am graduate who attained a score of 680 in the UKCAT this year, would this score be enough to secure an interview for the 5 year medicine program at barts? I believe they still apply a cut off score for graduates applying to the 5 year program, and I also believe last year the cut off was 665? I hope this year it stays the same

your ukcat is fine, the cut off wont go up to 680 so dont worry, but im not sure how they rank graduates as you dont get ucas points for degrees do you? they rank undergrads by ucas points and take the top however so many, so give them a ring and check!

I don't understand barts' reluctance to use grades rather than Ucas tariff points when Ucas have decided to axe the system. Surely, they will suffer a reduction in applications this year now that applicants know how the system is working.

It is rather strange, but i'm not against it as its probably the only thing in favour for me! when universities favour gcse, extra curricular, ukcat or ums i and many others are disadvantaged. due to my college making us do a stupid general studies course (stupid until now! yay ucas points) and i chose to carry on all 4 aswell, means 5 a levels for me, lots of ucas points
