Biology or Physics?
In the future I want to be a pharamacist -
I'm going to be going college next year so it's rather important what I choose for a level.
I have chosen the following subjects:
Biology
Chemistry
Maths
Economics
The problem is that I'm not too interested in biology and if you're wondering why I have economics there I will probably drop that.
Does it really matter if I choose either Biology or Physics because I'd choose Physics over Biology all day.
I ask this because I've heard that it is better to do biology over physics if one wants to become a pharmacist. -
Re: Biology or Physics? Thanks, I probably will drop economics after AS, I don't want to do all sciences with maths because I think it will be too much work.(Original post by windsurfingbob)
have a look on uni websites and see what they are asking for for pharmacy.
Personally, i preferred physics to biology but i want to do engineering so its also more relevant. why dont you drop ecenomics and just do the straight sciences? -
Re: Biology or Physics? It is a lot of work. Take it from me!(Original post by 123formyabc)

If I remember correctly, you need chemistry and another science at least. Some may require maths too. Biology knowledge will help you in the pharmacy degree but if you don't enjoy it it's going to be a struggle to do well in it. If you prefer physics and are good at it, then do it
Have a look around at entry requirements for the unis that you're interested in going too and make your choice from their information. You will have to do biology at some point during the degree course but for now concentrate on getting there first.Last edited by Loz17; 17-07-2012 at 22:23. -
Re: Biology or Physics?Well I've decided I'm going to drop economics and stick with the rest.(Original post by Loz17)

Re: Biology or Physics?Ive done sciences and maths this year and havent found it too bad. the subjects may be challenging but you dont have the essays to deal with. homeworks tend to be sheets or past questions which dont take too long. more of its just about being organised!(Original post by 123formyabc)

Re: Biology or Physics?this is where i look all sheepish(Original post by 123formyabc)
May I ask what you got for your gcses?
10 A* 2 A
but i also travell for three hours a day commuting to and from college -

I'm somewhere close to 3/4*s...
How many hours of work do you think it would involve a week? -
Re: Biology or Physics?Obviously it depends on your teachers and the time of year. I tend to get one hour piece of work per teacher so 5 hourish per week for the majority of term. its only when exams are coming up that the work load really increases that you are given from staff. then it depends how much time you are willing to put it. its meant to be four hours per AS but I know few people who do that much.(Original post by 123formyabc)

3/4 *s puts you way above most people too!
Are you allowed to change within the first couple of weeks? if so why dont you test out the work load and then you can swap if its going to be too much?
I just dont think you have anything to loose -
Re: Biology or Physics? Thanks a lot that is what I'll do and see if it suits me(Original post by windsurfingbob)
