Re: Tips on waking up earlier?
It's probably already been said, but you should aim to learn your sleep pattern. When your mum wakes you up, your most likely in a deep sleep, so you just make random grunts without actually being awake. It's not really anything to do with the length of sleep you've had (although 8 hours is the recommended length). If I fall asleep at 2 in the morning, I'm much more likely to fully wake up at 6am, but if I tried waking up at 8 I'd literally just slump out of bed and be tired all day. There's an app somewhere which will help with your sleep cycle.

Re: Tips on waking up earlier? No problem, this is the sort of thing I mean:(Original post by benpearson1)
Yeah, I've tried leaving the blinds open a couple of times and achieved varied success. The only problem is, as I said, the streetlight outside really disturbs me as it shines directly into my room. I prefer going to sleep in a completely dark room.
As for the alarm clocks, can't say I've ever even heard of them!
I'll definitely check it out though, thanks!

Re: Tips on waking up earlier?
Try setting your alarms at 30 minute intervals, I usually set one for 6am, then 6.30 and then 7. This really helps me wake up in the mornings plus it doesn't leave you feeling groggy, it also helps that I use my phone as an alarm so the vibration helps to alert me too.
