Convince me to get rid of my iPhone
I've had an iPhone since the 3GS and to be honest, I'm bored of it.
What does android offer above and beyond an iPhone? I'm quite naive in that respect. The iPhone has always just been a convenient, easy option for me especially now I am 'locked' into Apple.
I'm quite intrigued by being able to run emulators, imagine having PS1 games on the go!
Anything along those lines would convince me.
I did try the Sony Xperia Play a while back and HATED it but I presume the Galaxy SIII/HTC One X would be a different class? -

Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhone
SIII > pretty much any other phone
However:
1) it doesn't have jelly bean and won't for a while
2) is considerably expensive
I would suggest getting a HTC One X or a Galaxy Nexus as your first foray into android. Out of the two, I would recommend Nexus.
Excellent software/hardware/bang for your buck. -
Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhone
The SIII is superior to the One X in several counts: much better battery, which is removable; SD card slot and Samsung's cool (but optional) features.
I've just upgraded from my iPhone 4 to it.
Biggest and best reason? You don't have to deal with Apple or iTunes. You want to put a film and a song on your phone? Just drag and drop it there. Or pop it on a memory card.
None of this 'ahh, your music is managed by your laptop, if you want to add a photo from your desktop PC, you'll have to erase everything on it and start again. Also you can't use ringtones because we say so.'.
Freedom, sweet, beautiful freedom! -
Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneThe One X's SLCD2 screen (which is better by the way) is naturally brighter, so just a simple brightness tweak and the battery level is on par. I'm running a HTC sense-removed ROM which gives me better battery life than any stock SGSIII user will ever have. I've never met anyone who needs more than 32GB phone storage, and you get that with the One X. The build quality of the S3 is inferior and the material which it is made of feels cheap and flimsy. The only freedom you really get is when you root/unlock your bootloader. I've returned my SGSIII because it's not the better phone.(Original post by Miraclefish)

Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneTrue but the average consumers are even worse so it doesn't matter much really.(Original post by Inverse)

Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneThat's all subjective mate.(Original post by Inverse)

The two screens both have various pros and cons, the build quality is a little in the One X's favour but I prefer the Samsung's design and shape.
And the battery isn't just a brightness tweak apart, the S3 has over 20% more capacity. As for TouchWiz, it's horses for courses. I have a Xoom running ICS and I like the vanilla OS, but TouchWiz is no worse, merely different.
I tested both and plumped for the Galaxy, but there was so, so little between them I could have happily tossed a coin.
Either way, both leave iPhones trailing in the dust. -
Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneI would never understand people who buy the latest phone. A phone should be bought to suit the users need and if that is the worse phone reviews wise so be it. Personally I prefer the galaxy nexus to any other phone on the market but that's just me others may have different opinions.(Original post by .eXe)

Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneNexus with Jelly bean is a worthy (and considerably cheaper) adversary to the SIII(Original post by ToastyCoke)
Galaxy S3 is top of the pile right now. Until the iPhone 5 comes out. S3 is a great piece of kit, flat mate has it. And obviously the iPhone 5 will be too. You won't lose with either of them. -
Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneNo, it's not. RGB pixel arrays are superior to Pentile pixel arrays. The design and shape is subjective, but the build quality on the One X is better. When I took the back cover off (which got loads of fingerprints easily) I always thought it was going to snap because of how flimsy and thin it was on the S3.(Original post by Miraclefish)
That's all subjective mate.

I hate both Touchwiz and Sense, I prefer a clean ICS experience. I've owned them both and extensively tested them and can safely say that the One X is better, even for the average consumer. I know, these phones both destroy the 4s and will destroy the 5, since iOS 6 has already been slaughtered by Jellybean and it's laughable that Apple is implementing features which were already included in Gingerbread all the way back at version 2.3.

Re: Convince me to get rid of my iPhoneNever saw the appeal of BBM when even cheap contracts have unlimited texts anyway, and all phones now display texts in the chat format so what's the point?(Original post by Joeyboy 12)
Blackberry if you're really sociable. The only thing that annoys me with mine is that I can't go on BBM (I have an iPhone 4)
And I have a blackberry haha, albeit given to me for free, never bothered with the BBM though.
