4 Billion people are expected to watch the olympics opening ceremony

****ing hell, that's more than half of the world's population. Don't fact like these just blow your mind. This is going to be the most uniting event for the human species so far. If only I was a top hacker so I could sneak this video in:

And they'll witness a load of pigs, cows and chickens stumbling across an artistic interpretation the English countryside

I really hope, for the sake of this country's reputation, Danny Boyle has done a good job with it.Last edited by ForensicShoe; 17-07-2012 at 20:50. -
Re: 4 Billion people are expected to watch the olympics opening ceremonyEr, why the freak not? You do realize more than 4 billion people have TV, right? In 2008, around 2 Billion+ tuned in for the ceremony and over all 4 billion between the whole game.(Original post by Dr00n)
realistically there won't be 4billion viewers -
Re: 4 Billion people are expected to watch the olympics opening ceremony
I still don't understand what showing people having picnics in a countryside showcased by various public sector workers doing some West End musical jig characterises English and British culture. I'd say our greatest cultural assets are food and music, perhaps shove a few fantasy dragon/battle scenarios with an epic rock n roll concert and that's what we should've done. Perhaps perform several orchestral pieces originally performed by British Orchestras, such as Doctor who, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, the Planets Suite.

Re: 4 Billion people are expected to watch the olympics opening ceremonyWhat idiotic tripe. China and Brazil have 10x more poverty than UK yet you pathetically praise them for spending billion yet criticize us when our spending of billions wouldn't even save many lives whereas for China and Brazil it could save thousands. Save lives vs improving lives? Which is more important?(Original post by The_Male_Melons)
When it comes to the Rio Olympics, more people will watch it. Something about Brazil that makes the world happy. 4 Billion is not realistic.
London is going to be embaressing. We spend billions, cancel eldery care so they can freeze to death cos we can't "afford" it, kill cancer patients cos we can't "afford them", closed down hospitals, hospices cos we can't afford to run them, close down schools cos we can't afford them, made poor kids homeless cos "we can't afford them", to afford a pathetic stadium that will hold the opening ceremony. It doesn't matter how many Indian Kids in Mumbai sowing towels so we can sell it at £74.50 a pop, it won't make ease our deficit and debt caused by these olympics.
Don't worry, old people, cancer patients, homeless kids, and dying people who are in need of going to hospital or hospice, we must be proud cos we have the olympics that is going to make us so much better.
Beijing was amazing! Rio will be amazing! London will that horrible embaressment. -
Re: 4 Billion people are expected to watch the olympics opening ceremonyand you think everyone is going to watch it?-it isn't realistically possible fro an audience of much higher than 30 million in the UK and almost all 60 million in the UK,own TVs and that means factor that in with the rest of the world and because 8 billion people don't even exist we won't get 4 billion.People will always have other things to do/watch on TV.(Original post by Annoying-Mouse)
