Re: Stupid printerAre you seriously telling the OP to reinstall the entire OS because the printer won't work?!(Original post by Iqbal007)
Than it might have to do with your own laptop, re-install the OS and do partial recovery if you got one user.
And than update everything and set up the printer from there
OP, instead of installing the driver manually, have you tried letting Windows do it itself using the Add Printer wizard? It should find and install the drivers automatically. -
Re: Stupid printerThis was after various other inputs, I do it as a final thing if theres issue with software and drivers which cant be fixed.(Original post by JayEm)

This was after various other inputs, I do it as a final thing if theres issue with software and drivers which cant be fixed.
I've tried that but as soon as I press the button it doesn't do anything. I've came to the conclusion that it has something to do with the print spooler service (prehaps corrupted).

Any ideas how I can fix the print spooler service, prehaps something to do with the registry? Exporting from other computer to laptop?
What do you lot recommend? (really don't want to reinstall everything) but thanks Iqbal for the system image recommendation. Good for next time.
edit:
I currently windows 7 professional installed in my computer. I inserted the disc like you said Iqbal and tried to upgrade it so it keeps my files but reinstalls my system files
and I got this

Thanks I've fixed the problem by reinstalling windows 7.(Original post by JayEm)
.
I've now created a system image to ensure that if I run into a similar problem again it would be easier to resolve.

Re: Stupid printerThe worst thing about doing full reinstall is that I will NEVER know what caused the issue(Original post by BethaneyJ)
SO pleased it's been fixed! I totally felt your pain! Can't believe it took that much, must have been something really quirky.

Re: Stupid printerThat really sucks. At least you now have a list of things to try should printers muck you about again(Original post by mangoh)

I don't understand how a printer problem can be so severe that you have to reinstall Windows!
I followed this advice from a top windows 7 forum
They told me several methods to help over come this issue but to no success a full reinstallation was recommended.
