    Graduation - please help!
Ok, so I've done something really, really stupid. Months ago I filled in a (paper) form to say that I was attending graduation and that I wanted 2 tickets for my parents. I ordered the gown, informed my parents etc and thought - good to go. Now it's the night before the ceremony and I've just been told that I should have clicked a form online to register my attendance and book my tickets. So, essentially, in the eyes of the Uni, I won't be going to graduation and I have no tickets.

Now I'm panicking like mad and I don't know what to do. I have a friend who has offered me her tickets, assuming I can convince the staff that she's handed them over, but it still doesn't put me on the ceremonial register. I can't contact the Student Services people until 9am at the earliest - is there any chance they can help me at this stage?

If I drag my family to Manchester and then have to tell them that I can't graduate, they will go crazy - not to mention the sheer embarrassment I would feel. Is it likely that the people in charge of graduation will register my attendance at the last second?

The worst thing they can say is no, so ring them up in the morning. Obviously you won't be in any printed programmes etc.

Alternatively, there may be an option to graduate at winter graduation, in December. Obviously it will mean graduating separately from your coursemates, but it would be better than nothing.

They might but the only way to find out is to turn up on the day. Go as early as possible so they can sort it out for you and good luck

Just a quick update - I turned up in Manchester an hour before gown collection and they allowed me to go through with the ceremony, although I had to sit right at the back of the hall because I was "unexpected" haha. My parents were given tickets automatically. Massive relief! xx
